Would it be legal to use a modified http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/uo/uosa/images/wallpapers/UO-SA_ankh_widescreen.jpg as background on a website if you write origin? which is uoherald.. :)
I am in no way speaking on behalf of Electronic Arts, Mythic Entertainment or Origin. But, the answer is yes.

Having reviewed the fansite kit guidelines myself it is perfectly acceptable to use the graphics in the kit for non-commercial use.

Ultima Online Fansite Kit Terms of Use said:
... You may include materials created with the [fansite kit] on your personal noncommercial website for the noncommercial benefit of the fan community for EA's products and provided that if you do so, you must also post the following notice on your site on the same web page(s) where those materials are located: "This site is not endorsed by or affiliated with Electronic Arts, or its licensors. Trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Game content and materials copyright Electronic Arts Inc. and its licensors. All Rights Reserved." You will not represent that your site is endorsed or approved by or affiliated with EA or our licensors or that any other content on your site is endorsed or approved by or affiliated with EA or our licensors. ...
The complete Terms of Use can be read at the bottom of this page.

I seriously would check with and get any approvals to do this BEFORE putting it on a web page. I omitted that once and got a "takedown" request about 2 weeks after ... and it was only a portion of something I didn't realize was copyrighted.

Strongly suggest getting approval beforehand ... but if it is an approved fansite, I think you would be on safe ground.
