For those of you that aren't into PVP, or rares, you have my best wishes for hanging in there..courage to you all.
My crafters and vendors are useless and the new client is impossible for me. The POV is horrible and my toon is ugly and clumsy and I cant even see her from the top view thing goin on.
There is still no other game out there that comes close, but the world is too changed for me to have fun.

If I had one wish, it would be to make all special drops and rares account-bound. Or are they afraid to lose what base is still playing? In case that ever happens, I am keeping my stuff! HAHAHA

Why would youre crafters and veders useless? They are my great money makers. Whith SA I'll be able to make even better items and sell them at hugh cost. Why would you make rares and special items account bound that will essentially ruin a few markets for venders if you can't sell them.

I am at the same point you are I'd rather give up. I even really looked hard at the money I have spent with them here's a financial overview of what I've spent on Ultima Online.

June 2002-Jan2003 1 acct at 9.95 per month 6mths x 9.99= 59.70

Feb 2003- May2003 2 accts at 9.95 per month 4 mths x 19.90 = 79.60

June 2003- April 2006 2 at 12.99 per month 34 mths x 25.98 = 883.32

May2006- Jan 2007 3 accts at 12.99 per month 9 mths x 38.97= 350.73

Feb2007 - Present 4 accts at 12.99 per month 29 mths x 51.96= 1506.84

59.90 + 79.60 + 883.32 + 350.73 + 1506.84 = $4,507.53 I have spent with EA to date for Ultima Online

And yet when you ask for help with a glitched up account they treat you as if you are less than dirt.

4,507.53 would have made a hell of a down payment on the VW New Beetle or Mini Cooper I've been wanting. At least VW and BMW (makers of the Mini) know what customer service is all about, god forbid you take your shiny new car to the dealership for a repair and the mechanic says "It Ain't my job you got to take it back to the Factory!!" That's all you get anymore from anyone at EAMythic "It ain't my job you have to take it to this department" and that department will say the same thing.


EAMythic's atittude towards their customers, customer service, and in general blows my mind. Its why I'm leaving OP.

Would the last person to leave Ultima Online please shut down the power to the servers and secure them? Ty

And no one tells you what to drive either. IMHO Hummers are large, UGLY, pollution spewing, gas guzzling, taking TWO parking spaces to park monstrosities that I wouldn't be caught DEAD in. I perfer to save the enviroment not destroy it, but thats my views no one elses'.

4th Man you missed the point completely. What I was trying to say is that a customer who has spent that kind of money would be a customer one would wish to treat well. Instead SIR I was treated like dog poo on the bottom of someone's shoe!

shouldn't quit then, if it wasn't for uo u wouldn't have met your spouse... also no one is forcing u to play the new client, i myself don't intend to download it, just sticking with 2D, and no mmo did come close until darkfall was released at the end of february which is the only other mmo similar to uo, i used to pvp a lot but now i dont often, i collect rares and such, basically i enjoy making gold in the game which is what motivates me to play

i dont wanna sit down and figure out how much ive spent on UO since it started, but im sure its been a lot.

but i dont mind.
running 3 accounts works out to be like $1 or $1.5 per day.

a buck a day to play and have fun and do whatever i like or want to do that day.

go mining.... ok.
go kill someone..... sure.
go do a champ..... why not.
interact with people and RP..... otay.

for a buck a day.

i dont consider that a waste.
i consider it a good investment in my entertainment time.

I agree about the new client...and crafting. I completely understand why you are leaving UO, but I imagine I will stick it out until they pull the plug...at least until they pull the plug on 2D. I wish things were different, but there are still some things in this game that are enjoyable.

@Tuferon, I remember your post in the SA forum, you were wondering if the SA client is gonna make it more fun than 2D and more playable than KR.

I am still confused with that and was waiting for you explain what would constitute as fun for you. 2D and KR are just clients, they do not do anything to the content of the game and content is where the fun is, not the clients. No?

PS: The current open beta is for the SA client, not for the new content. So if you are looking for new content (which will be playable in both the legacy client and teh SA client), you might want to wait a bit. Also, to add on, you might want to take a look in the SA Client forum and see what issues have been highlighted. Note that this is a beta only . The devs will be relying on feedback to find issues and make the neccessary changes.

Now why do I play UO with all the BS well simply because I feel there is still fun in anything. Playing before the as the Avatar on Ultima Pagan6 was fun even on solo RPG. Besides all that money investments on items,rares,home in UO is reason enough to just hang on to your account until better things comes along.

You need not go away just keep bringing the EAMythic BS service and any other inconsistencies through forums like this and hope that things will change.

It is every paying customers right to complain and nobody here has the same right to counter your convictions. Let them say how happy they are with UO is ok that's the way the cards lay out for them anyways eh?

When I remember watching the grace of the flow of our capes when we guildies sparred for training in the old old 2D I wanna cry at what is now acceptable. I do not need hi-tech graphics, but my joys from making an outfit cannot be seen on my toon. Special cloth? You cannot see it on her! She lumbers around like a cow and she is a gorgeous kick-ass mage!
My needs were simple, the fun is just not there folks. Anything is possible, but it isn't fun.

I'm into my tenth year and am having the time of my life in UO. I'm not playing the current senario as much as I would like as I am moving. I play the KR client and love it. I have logged into the new SA client verdict is still out. As I did with the 2D to KR I will play alittle and send in feedback. For me SA looks no diferent than KR except for the UI mods we have for KR.

If you must go be well and don't give all your stuff away you might just come back some day....

Ahh, so the fun for you is the ability to customize your char by wearing different clothes. But you are dissappointed that things doesn't look right in KR, yes?

But the legacy client will continue to be supported, and all new content, including new clothes/wearables/weapons/armor will be added to the legacy client as well. So your capes will continue to flow, and retain their special color. Why do you feel a need "to get out of this version of 2D"?

At least with the new Bug and Mini - when purists said "screw this new version" - they didn't junk their old car, give up driving altogether, and complain how much they used to spend on gas.

I don't know why when people quit playing can't just graciously say "I had fun, my time with UO is up", rather they go out in a blaze of bitterness and regret. Clearly the time to quit would have been well before this sort of resentment set in.

Oh my goodness, your crafting will rock with SA. Sure, if you want to make benches only, its time to quit.

But if you want to get into unraveling stuff and supply players, this is your ticket. If you want to mine/collect resources, this is your ticket. If you want to craft recipe jewelry and enhance with properties, this is your ticket. If you essential want to create merchant wares, this is your ticket.

Think about it. SA will give merchants and crafters a purpose... unless ofcourse you want to make chairs and robes.

First, I don't want your stuff. I have waay too much stuff already.

I say that to say this...

Stop playing for a while, and let it rest. You can even stop playing, that's a good thing a lot of the times.

However, I cannot tell you how many people I have met playing uo that are beyond sad by the things they lost when they quit playing. We pretty much always come back when the really cool game we go to is gone, or the excitement fades out for us.

Whatever is about to be wrong is pretty much unimportant because the pendulum will once again swing. That's the main reason to have ALL types of characters.

Give this some serious thought before you lose all the things you have spent so much effort aquiring.

My blessings on your family. Believe me, my family has been disappointed here many times, but then something will change and it will be wonderful again.

The point of view is lousy, far too top-down. I agree about the looks of the avatar and their wearables, and the animations. It's very ugly. The rest of the scenery is only OK, but looks far too much like water colors, pastel, undefined. I suppose you have to stand back to appreciate it, heh.

I would love to see UO do this in kick arse art. I don't know why they are holding themselves and this game back. Must be for that half blind 70 year old guy with the Atari whose been bitchin' for 40 years that they don't make 'em like they used to.

Crafters... useless? Have you even been using them? Use some runic tools and you can make some really nice weapons and armor. Heck, for weapons you only need a copper runic. Wouldnt even need a barbed kit for armor, just use a horned kit.

This kind of whining drivel is a large part of what is wrong with Uo these days.

"customer service this and customer service that" I have played for well over 10 years and have maybe paged a GM twice. How can anyone be talking about quitting over lack of customer service? How many times daily are you paging the farking Gm's Jiriel?

You are seriously attempting to compare an online games customer service to a car dealership? This analogy would have been ridiculous anytime but I especially have to laugh now that hundreds of car dealerships have just recently closed en masse due to poor product/service/sales.

Have people paged a Gm for a legitimate reason and had to wait overly long? Hell yes and that sucks but bottom line is that no business in the world can provide the kind of customer service that fools like Jiriel whine about.

I am 100% sure that if we could actually see a journal of all pages in one weeks time that it would be full of mind boggling bull**** and we would all just wanna grab the nearest Gm and hug him/her(if we could find one ingame lol)

People seem to get so upset about being pointed to a website instead of an actual vist by a Gm EVERYTIME. Guess what folks, the websites do have a wealth of info that can resolve most issues.

You want a real analogy?

Try calling your utility company or appliance company or car company 8 times a week and ask them to send a representative(their version of Ultima's Gm of course)TO YOUR LOCATION everytime because you dont know how to operate the item.

If it's just not fun for you anymore, then I agree you should leave and find a game you enjoy.

I've been here continuously since Day One. I still love UO. Is it the same game it was when I first started? No. Is it still fun for me? Yes.

There are aspects of it that I miss from the "old days", but the changes that have been brought about in those 12 years more than makes up for what I miss. I love that "ordinary" people can have/obtain rares etc. that used to only the "elite" people could get. I love all the new craftables we can make. I love the customization of houses. Probably my favorite part of UO is customizing and decorating my houses.

However, I will admit that going to Siege to play in addition to LS made a vast improvement in my enjoyment. I love both LS and Siege. The big draw to Siege in that you still feel the community spirit that is missing more from LS.

But to each their own and like I said at the beginning, if it's no longer enjoyable to you then you should move on. It's smart to not get rid of your stuff though.

Whatever you do next, I wish you the best!

Keep an eye on Stratics Tuferon...some of us have not given up all hope of a classic shard. This game was once something very different than what it is now. Some people think that what it was is good, others think what it was is bad...but the fact remains, it is not what it was, not even close anymore really.

If we do ever get a classic shard, be sure to look me up! PoV is always looking for good people, and I am always looking for new friends!

It is not that I long for a game that no longer exists. Over the years I have approached any changes with the attitude, okay this is a new game let's do it and always found something I enjoyed. My houses were a great part of the game and people had me build and deco for them many times.
I will keep an eye open here no doubt. There is nothing else to play and I will miss UO in all of the incarnations. I do not need a classic shard, there is so much I have loved here.
It is a big thing when the game is visually uncomfortable and the UI is so cumbersome to me.
I am not whining, just bemoaning the fact that the demographics arent big enough for the niche that isn't into slash and bash and non-leveling games for a new one to be created.
I guess this post really is the the final one on this subject y'all.

I have a very vivid memory of my friend (who later convinced me to buy the game) trying to enter a mage shop in Vesper. He double-clicked the door, waited approximately two minutes before the door opened, and then right clicked to step forward. A full sixty seconds passed before he took a step, only to find out the door had closed.
On his second attempt (now almost ten minutes later) he actually stepped through the door, which to the both of us seemed a rather remarkable achievement, all things considered. Looking back, however, I fail to see how that was an accurate representation of something so jawdroppingly spectacular as to outdo any steps taken to improve it since then, or ever into the distant future. Not only is Ultima Online not ''gone'' as you put it. But it is very much improved, and alive. Claiming that what we play now isn't Ultima Online is like telling the rest of the World it isn't what it is, because men and women don't live in caves, wear loincloths, and stick bones through their noses anymore!

Well if you say a decent sports car then obviously that leaves out ANY car made in France....why can't the French build a car?? LOL

I got a 2007 honda fit a couple months back and i just love that little sucker. There's actually a lot of room in the back, considering its a small car, the back seats fold down for even more room, you can park anywhere...its not of course a car that will speed up fast or anything fancy but it's great for my needs and has a decent safety rating.

I say that to say this...

Stop playing for a while, and let it rest. You can even stop playing, that's a good thing a lot of the times.

However, I cannot tell you how many people I have met playing uo that are beyond sad by the things they lost when they quit playing. We pretty much always come back when the really cool game we go to is gone, or the excitement fades out for us.

Whatever is about to be wrong is pretty much unimportant because the pendulum will once again swing. That's the main reason to have ALL types of characters.

Give this some serious thought before you lose all the things you have spent so much effort aquiring.

My blessings on your family. Believe me, my family has been disappointed here many times, but then something will change and it will be wonderful again.

You'd be surprised how many people like playing a game because they enjoy it and are not addicted just to the pixel crack.

I know plenty of people who left, never coming back. I myself will be gone soon as I find a reasonable price for my large tower and castle on ebay.

I gave it a rest a month ago keeping all my goodies though my luna home will go idoc soon i guess but oh well i was planing on transfering if i do come back and i would rather not have the hastle of a luna home to tie me to a shard when and if that happens. . To the OP: Good luck. It's tough to break that chain and addiction. Walking away and banking your stuff is the best thing to do when you are not satisfied. Perhaps all of those people who gave the game a break will come back when they start supporting this game to it's full potential. I am looking forward to that day as well.

Forget KR or SA, those resources and that time could have been better spent fixing and improving 2D.

Now if you really want to make UO a "3D" game then use an engine like what you see in NWN2 or something.

I am really confused...the SA ui may be cumbersome and uncomfortable to you, but the legacy client is still going to be around.

It still supports all the original clothes since day 1 like shirts, fancy shirts, sashes, robes, capes, hats etc and they are still rendered in the legacy client the same exact way...legacy capes still flow the same way in the legacy client. Virtue cloak is a new item not available from day 1.

PoV in KR/SA is the same isometric view with legacy. It's not turned into a first person view 3D game...

No matter the client you use, UO is still not a hack and slash game, no levelling either...

Where are you reading all these? Are you sure you are playing the same UO we are? Or am I missing something?

Never have I claimed that internet connections have not improved. Certainly they have. The lag and connections issues of old UO have nothing to do with UO itself (well, some of them did in the very beginning).

You obviously feel that what UO was is bad. I think I covered that in my post. I respectfully disagree. It was the first game of its kind, and if those days had never happened, you wouldn't be collecting neon colored artifacts in Trammel and Malas and Tokuno now.

Say what you want, but when UO was released, it was special. It was different. Now, it is lost in a sea of copy cat games that outshine and outperform it every way.

I am really glad that you enjoy the world that those of us that were there on day 1 forged for you. That brings a smile to my face. I am serious. I feel that UO died when Trammel was created, and was replaced with a cheap plastic copy that has gotten cheaper, and more colorful as time went on.

You may call me psychotic, or anything else you feel the need to, it really doesn't bother me. The funny part is, back in old UO, you would call me something like that, and I would see you dead...now, you call me something like that, and I have no recourse. Terrific! Glad you enjoy it, but to me, UO lost its soul years ago, and what has happened since then, has been OSI/EA/Mythic just repeatedly raping the corpse.
