For one, nightmare doesn't have hit points close to or exceeding 600. Also, dreads are a darker color than even jet black mares.

Main way, though, it to lore it and look at its stats.

What do you mean by damage points?

I'm not sure how many damage points they do. That'd probably depend on their individual strength and tactics ratings. Me, I sort of think of dreads as beefed-up mares with the HP of a cu.

If the pet has three words in its name, then it is a dread warhorse,
a nightmare can only have two.

The best way to tell is to use Animal Lore, which can be done on tamed pets with low skill (<100), human JOAT, or jewelry. The damage type is another good indicator, nightmares don't have energy damage.

If you play KR you can add extra spaces to a pets name. I have a 5 word named cu sidhe.

Best bet to tell what if it's a warhorse is to Lore it.

That is awesome!!!! Does it also work in the SA client? I have a greater dragon that was tamed prior to them getting the "greater" in the name, that I would love to be a three word name.

While I have not tried it in SA I am not sure why it wouldn't.

The SA client doesnt add extra spaces on the ends of pet names when you rename them like the KR client does. So go get those spaces while you can.

Need to rename and hit enter a couple times to get enough spaces in KR for some names.

*Shrug*

I could not get the SA Client to get into a Pet Name change mode.

Mares are not Jet Black in color as the Dread. Simply Lore.

Just wondering does all Dread War Horses have Pack Instincts? Or are they random? Thus making one with PI to be for keeps?

I haven't seen any dreads with pack instinct... mine doesn't have it. Are you saying some do? Since it takes 3 of 5 control slots, it would need to have the same PI as something with 1 or 2 control slots to be useful.

An other way to be sure: once xfering ownership of the pet, have a beetle with you. If the xfer is successful, you just get scammed... cause beetle takes 3 control slots, so only 2 lefts.
Only Mare could be xfered cause they takes 2 control slots against 3 slots for the Dread.

If it pwn faces it's a dread, if it's getting face pwned its a nightmare...

Actually yes its even darker than "Jet Black" nightmare.
It has 500+ hp (Nightmare can never even get close to this figure)
It has 20-26 base damage.
It pwn faces
It farts when the owner say "trick".
It pwn faces.
It has blackER color, and did I mention it pwn faces?
