For the longest time I had been running my tamer at 80 dex for purpose of healing speed with vet, but recently a guildy told me that dex does not impact heal time for Vet.

Can anyone confirm this?

Hum, I have never understood Dex to play a Role in healing (or veting) other than perhaps secondarily as a function of defense.

Well with healing, it decreases the amount of time needed to apply a bandage, and I always assumed that the same applied to Veterinary until now

Dex won't help you vet any faster.

Found this in an old FoF (like Feb '07 vintage )

*Update* Veterinary skill is treated exactly like healing, with two exceptions: First, if you're healing a pet (doesn't have to be yours, just has to be tamed,) you get a bonus to heal speed. Second, the MINIMUM time to heal is two seconds. The math works out such that any time you are healing a tamed animal, you'll be hitting that floor, and it'll take you two seconds - so, effectively, dex doesn't matter. [MrTact]

So you can play with your dex as you wish

For a short period of time a few years back, they changed it so that dex affected vet speed just like healing. Didn't go down well and it was removed.

Dex now doesn't affect vet. So enjoy Unless you want to add a combat skill and make a paladin/tamer.
