Thanks for the tipp. This allows to place a normal ladder, but this is to short to climb over the walls.
If I try the Castle Ladder instead I get a "You must own this house ..." message (with the owner char of the house).

I am having the same problem. I *really* want this to work so I cna avoid opening 3 sets of doors.
This idea intrigued me so I played around with it and figured it out!! Alright, you place the square goza mat as Risso said by targetting yourself on the steps where you want the ladder to be placed. Now, to get the Castle ladder all you need to do is go inside and stand on the walkway like right over the doorway. From there activate the ladder deed, choose Castle ladder, target the goza and it'll place it for you! One thing of interest is to enter the the abode you have to step on the steps first then up the ladder at an angle. Works like a charm!!

Ok How do I get my darned Talking Statues on the steps of my Keep? I can make the ladders work but I want my Statues out there on the steps!
Thanks for the detailed answer. Indeed I could place a castle ladder today on the goza mat, but it seems to be my stupid day.
Only the East ladder worked, not the North ladder I would need.
So I demolished the Goza mat and tried to place it more near the corner. This failed - and all further attempts to place the Goza mat on the stairs again.

Hmmm, worked for me pretty simple. Maybe you have something in the way that prevents the north ladder from being placed. Also, try to not stand on the tile along the walkway where the ladder "wrap over" will fall. Not sure what else might be causing your trouble other than maybe those things. Good luck!!

I must be doing something wrong because I can not figure out how to do it. I took a screenshot of the front of my castle. Maybe someone can figure out what I'm doing wrong.
It's not (or at least not intentionally). I stood on the steps, targeted myself with the gaza and that is where it's placed. I'm thinking about placing the gaza mat on the other side of the doors and see if that works any better.
*EDIT* I just moved the mat to the other side of the door, but no luck. I was able to place a ladder facing east, but not any other direction.

I haven't tried this so I don't have any really useful advice, except to try to lower the goza mat after you place it, perhaps something under the steps is interfering with it being as low as it needs to be. Alternately it might be too low and you could try to raise it.

If the goza is placed, it needs to be upped 3 times, then placement of a Castle ladder facing North works (even from the stairs).

That photo reminded me of a question I have had for years. How do you get things locked down under your house sign with Castles or Keeps? I would love to put a chest there or especially a bulletin board outside my castle, but I have no idea how this is done. Is it a glitch, or can it be reproduced?

Although I got this working, but I can only go up the ladder from ground floor but couldn't get back down (need teleport). Any clue?

Solved. I found out that the ladder must be exactly 3 "up" in order to allow access to go up and go down. one more step up = cannot go down. one more step up = cannot go down.

Coming back to this - is it no longer possible? Getting the message "You cannot build near the door" if trying to place on the raised goza mat.
If I am not doing something wrong, must even the limited fun stuff we have in customizing keeps or castles be removed? Or has this to do with the other goza related issues which have been posted recently?

The "Goza" thing mostly although its really not just gozas its everything deeded... but ya thats the problem...
I just did this for the first time today and after moving a few items that were apparently blocking the drop over on the roof it worked perfectly!
