Hilew! Does anyone know if theres a calculator app. out there to determine a characters overall chance to block based off inputting the relevant data - (skills bushido/tactics/anatomy and of course parrying) DCI %, HLA % vs monsters chance to hit ((2-H/1-H weapon/sheild-no sheild) poison etc). ? If there is one, what is it called :? x Thanks in advance

When you say "block", do you mean "parry", or "avoid getting hit completely"?

I can tell you that weapon skills come into the mix. For example, a mongbat is far less likely to hit a legendary swordsman then a novice swordsman.

I think you mean Algebra, not calculus. But ya, I know a bit of calculus. heh

Use Foolio's posted link... it's amazing the amount of information on Stratics.

Why do you need calculus for this again?
It's probably easier than algebra 1 that you learned when you were in 9th grade.

Ive taken all the calculus courses required for my major 4 years ago and Ive been working after I graduate in IT/Engineering related field and have not yet encountered an issue that I actually have to use calculus... It's imo the hardest math overall and yet so rarely used.

Isn't it funny how they "make" you take certain courses that of course you'll "need" in your career and you NEVER use them. For me it was chemistry and anatomy/physiology. Not once have I ever needed to name a muscle or bone... let alone a little bump on a bone... nor have I needed to know the molecular weight of a molecule. But I sure had to take those classes. Though I am glad I did. They were fun. Just not very necessary in my job.

I'm a Psychology student being forced to do macromolecular biology. I feel your pain.

I think calculus is more about thought process building than actually using the math, you learn to think about problems slightly differently than you would using other math, of course I suppose you could learn those skills in other subjects, science comes to mind....

At least some people here know what Calculus is.. It's a compliment that those who don't know are ignorant enough to use the word when speaking about "math" (ie too much work for the questioner). But I'd rather you learn some vocabulary than waste a post on bastardizing a word.

FYI calculus is too complicated (processor intensive) for computer implementation, and will likely never be used in MMORPG's.

Liberal Arts major? heh

I've learned more about calculus after those courses than I want to.. but it's useful in my line of work. And it actually starts to make sense after a while.

I was never one to go to school for useless information (Of course right now I'm taking an American Literature course.. stupid graduation requirements).

I think this should do it for you...

fx = Cnxn + Cn-1xn-1 + C2x2 + C1x + C0 (x2 - x + 1) × (x2 + 2x - 3)/x - 1 ) 2x3 - 7x2 + 8x - 3 x cos - (x(√x + 1 + 1))

...let me know if you have questions.
