ToT - Good hunting spots?

I've never really gone to Tokuno, aside from one failed attempt at Travesty. what are some good spots for a mage-tamer to hunt for ToT?

If you are a straight mage tamer, you might be best off with either one of the two areas with two fan dancers, the fan dancer/demon room, or if you have a really sweet dragon, try the succubus/ronin room. Id also suggest the demon room, but chances are it will always be camped.

Succubi go down fast with a well trained cu, and if you have disco that helps quite a bit. Just don't vet standing next to them as the succubi cast an area effect spell that will hit you, heal from afar and then vet before the respawn.

Another area would be the Rune Beetle areas. Go down fast with pair of bakes or cu.

Where does it spawn at in tokuno ?

So what they're trying to say is, go explore. For a mage tamer, anything is worth killing.

There are several spawn sites for them in the Fan Dancer DoJo

I have found that one of the best ways to explore some of these areas is with a Hide+Stealth+(combo's of (Mage/Necro/SpellWeaver)) But the exploration part comes from the Hide+Stealth.

Any particular reason noone has mentioned hunting for ToT using their Greater Dragon?

Also, how long does it take for a Minor Treasure to show up in your pack? I hunted Rune Beetles for about 45 min and nothing? Is there something else I should be going after?

Thanks.

I been hunting tsuki wolves and fan dancers... probably demons next. Been getting minors off them like every 10-25 mins.

Cus just do better against succubi because of the cold damage (I think). And you can run right through the dungeon as opposed to draggin' your dragon behind you, which always lands me in some kind of trouble (esp in a crappy resist luck suit).

Dragons are of course good for most things. Rune beetles should be fine, and tsuki wolves are ok. If you are stopping to loot gold and sort through the corpses that is going to add time, if you don't have disco or aren't helping your pet with magery then you will kill more slowly and that will add time. So decide if you want to kill as fast as possible for drops or do it at a more leisurely pace so you can grab gold. :)

Personally I like dread spiders. There are several spawns near each other so there's always a spider, the loot is so terrible you never get tempted to look at it, and if you accidentally get targetted you can kill it before anything really bad happens. There's also a lot of dinky stuff you can mass kill to get a drop after you feel like you've done 30 or so spiders and built up fame a bit.

I call shenanigans. I got one minor in almost two hours hunting Oni's and Succubi

Go to Complete Hunter's Guide
Open up a creature's specs. The "Found At" section lists all the spawning areas.

The only problem is that the locations listed are generic, like a whole floor of a dungeon....

It does not list a specific spot (room or corner) where they actually spawn nor it says whether there is also any other side spawn nearby or they spawn on their own.

That is, IMHO, it lacks sufficient informations to determine whether it's a specific spawn that might or not interest a player.

For example, in the case of a Succubus, it lists :

Found At: Abyss Champion Spawn, Blood Dungeon, Fan Dancer Dojo Level 2, Fan Dancer Dojo Level 3, Montor, Palace of Paroxysmus, Sanctuary"

But in which exact area it spawns ?
Is there any other spawn associated with them in that specific area ?
There are listed 7 areas, some very large and very different between them for spawn details and all rest.

Some players may be interested in some for their specific spawn details but other players might not and could prefer different succubus spawn ones.....

What I am trying to say, is that the Hunter's guide is not as detailed as players' informations could be.

So, what can those who have hunted the succubus say ?

To their experience, which is the most handy point (easier to reach and with only the succubus spawning or with very little side spawn around) where one could hunt this beast ?

Thanks.

Aside from Sasmi's good point Dragons also are not the fastest killers, as apposed to using combo's like two bakes. A cu might not damage faster than a dragon (not sure if it does or does not) but it also heals itself better than a dragon and you of course can ride it, Depending on what you are fighting will also change what particular pet you might want to use (being able to ride an ethy while fighting is a huge advantage over being on foot, specially if you are fighting groups of rune beetles or anything really) Over all I do not think there is any particular one reason people are talking about pets other than Dragons, tho I could be wrong as I am not them.

I would say ToTs are fairly random, Hunted for two hours and only got one, now on 2 hours and 49 mins and I have 7, so 6 in 50 mins or so? but only one in the 2 hours before that.

Having Got Over 400 Arties I Have A Few Great Places That You Can Get Arties In Good Time.

1: Double Fandancer Room First Floor Dojo This Is Where 2 Fan Dancers Spawn And 2-3 Headless Ones. Consistently Killing These Will Give Arties In Good Time. 4-6 Per Hour
2: Double Daemon Room Second Floor Dojo. This Is The First Of The Double Daemon Room Where 2 Daemons 2 Headless Ones And 2 Horde Minions Spawn. If You Offset The Timers You Can Steadly Kill THese Creatures And Get 5-7 Arties An Hour.
3: 1st And 2nd Levels Of Sleeping Dragon Spawn. These Levels Are The Fastest Way To Get The Arties As You Are Mass Killing The Creatures. However. It Kinda Slows The Arty Drop Down With The Spawn Aso Dropping SOTs. 3-5 Within These Levels
4: Travesty. Taking A Greater Dragon Into Travesty And Just Killing The Ninjas For The Keys Will Rack Up The Arties. The Spawn Up To 3 At A Time Depending On Room You Are In. 4-6 Per Hour

Hope This Helps Anyone Who Is Having Trouble With The Arties. I Would Also Ask That You Be Courtious To Other Players. Not Getting The Drops They Want Is Discouraging Enough.

Note: The Mempo Seems To Have Its Spurts In These Locations Having Gotten 6. They Do Come Far And Imbetween. No Luck Invovled I Dont Think Having Only 220.

has anyone confirmed that the fame of a mob increases your chance of getting an artifact? furthermore, is it correct that there is some GGS effect if you kill x number of mobs without receiving an artifact? is that GGS-esque meter filled more quickly by higher fame mobs?

bottom line: are you better off killing tons of low fame mobs or a smaller amount of high fame ones? is there a good balancing point somewhere?

In the ToT system, the fame of the monsters you kill accrues and in doing so increases your chances for a drop. When you get a drop that fame resets and you start all over. So essentially the best way to farm would be where you are killing lots of tough monsters for fame and easy monsters for chances at a drop. So a lot of people recommend doing the EV thing at a champ spawn, or doing the double demon room at the dojo, which also has headless etc.

BTW I don't know if it's been changed, but during ToT II the monsters from the old lands gave more fame than their comparably new counterparts, so it was better to hunt demons/succubi/dread spiders than fan dancers/rune beetles/oni. However it's also personal, if your template is set up such that you can drop a rune beetle in a couple hits then that might be the best monster for you to farm. I like to get seeds sometimes, so I was doing dread spiders for the fame (I think 5k each?) and then kappas for seeds and drop chances.
