I have been looking for information on how the minors drop, is it a point system like the 9th anniversary dungeon drops, or some other system? Also do you need to be melee, or a mage, if you kill it with a pet will you earn minors?

ToT Drop system

Last time they did the TOT it was on a point system, Alot like what Doom is now, actually they used the TOT point system for doom.
The last TOT i used a tamer and i got dropps. The higher end monsters give you more points Versus a lower end moster. If i remember correctly i fought Lady of the Snows and averaged a drop every 30 mins to an hour. And that was on the tamer.

Ok...a futon just dropped to my pack while doing the tokuno champ spawn. Is that normal? Or is that an unannounced ToT drop?
edit: Nevermind. It's been so long since the RNG actually handed me a replica I didn't even think that it could be that. Yay!

And no the 1 Charge dyes arent a shame, collect 10 Minors and get a normal dye with 50 charges =)

I have to admit that I've never witnessed a buzz-saw squad of wraiths in action, clearing a screen of all life in what seemed like the blink of an eye.

Yeah same point system as before. I would say use a tamer (everyone else is *eye roll*) and it should be easy enough for you to "all kill" your way to a load of marties.
20?? How the hell....? I *was* proud of my four I got in two hours.....

With the right character in the right spot, it's possible to get a drop every 10-15 minutes.....
It probably also helps to remember how long it took you to burn out and to pace yourself accordingly

I've always used my dexxer or archer. As to where.....well.......some things must be kept secret or everyone would be doing it lol.
Averaging one drop every 40 mins or so, works out to about 20k in gold I collect per drop. Time for sleep now though.

I always found that using a tamer with any pet was the slowest way to get drops.
hmm I think I may be hunting the wrong beasts...kappas,dread spiders,ronin,rev lions,elite ninja's,and hiryu's just arnt cutting it with what others seem to be getting....
Not had much time to play with it yet. Am I mis-remembering or can you not get drops with undirected summons like blade spirits and energy vortex? Pets need to be told to 'kill' rather than 'guard'? My memory is kinda fuzzy.

I hope not. I almost never tell my pets to kill...I put them on guard, gather up what I want to kill, run by my greater, and invis.
I can confirm that EVs work.
Two minutes after a pet is told to kill/guard it'll sort of "unlink" it's status to yours and you won't get kill credits for stuff it mangles.
This is easy to spot if you're guilded - if it's acting on "your behalf" it's green, if it's not then it's blue. While blue, neither you nor your guildmates can attack it outside of Fel, and you can't loot corpses it has the rights to.
However, sometimes a guarding pet will "link" to you and stay linked until you start giving it new orders. For example, if I order a pet to guard, wait two minutes, tell it to follow then guard again, it goes perma green, attacks everything that attacks it automatically, and gives me the credit for everything.
There's probably a faster way to do it though I've never worked it out.
This is the reason why you gain less "points" towards virtue artifacts while hidden. Because tamers can literally go in with a strong pet, set it to perma-green, hide, then sit there doing nothing while gaining artis (other then, say, loring the pet for gains in order to prevent auto-logout). The hiding penalty was intended to discourage this somewhat, though it's a dead slow way of doing things anyway. Methinks you'd have better luck with a decent Area weapon.

According to my experience you can have a faster drop rate.
First of all the ToT system is influenced by luck : one can have a lot more luck than during the first ToT.
I remember long ago how fast the drop rate was in the Balron room in the fan dancer dojo. It was a lot more faster when we were more to hit the balron, provided all had looting rights. Even if the ToT system uses points, you kill a lot faster and safer 2 balrons with two people than 1 Balron alone.
So does the champ spawn system drop the items? (the lizardmen/death bettles)

Got 24 drops so far. Are they going to drop this frequently the whole month or does it usually get toned down a little?

Well...I'll tell you how I got 150 ToTs last time. I kill everything. Not just monsters....but birds, dogs, cats, everything. I averaged 4-5 an hour for three weeks. Necro/Mage for the win.
