Guilds in North America Abusing faction point system

So the faction point abuses have struck North American shards now.

Guilds incapable of competing are now farming tens of thousands of points on legends to attempt to discourage pvp. This sort of stuff is pathetic as there is no benefit to pvp in any way shape or form here.

On legends, The guild of offense is Learning Disabled. (L*D).
Said guild currently is allied to a non faction guild for field fight advantages (though they still lose).

They offend against SL and CoM by creating massive point holders. In CoM the highest skill char is a 2x gm. They use their guild initials to show it is them and do so brazenly with unused point holding chars.

This is the kind of weakness that folks should be ranting about. Inferior quality guilds, deciding that rather than improve their play, or change tactics, they will harm the game as a whole.

What guilds on your shards are currently doing the same. Let's see what guilds in North American shards and European shards are so bad, they try to harm our beloved UO. (Note: Do not accuse anyone of exploits, this is merely an abuse of game mechanics to grief not brazen cheating.)

hmm ... any ideas for a mechanic that would force factioners to defend their points? (that couldn't be easily worked around with a puppet in opposing factions?)

Hmm... Only allow the Xferring of points 1/day maybe ... Or perhaps only allow the bonus for a "War Zone" kill to happen if the character is NOT in statloss... The ability to generate massive points is from the warzone bonus stuff.. so taking that away maybe.

Who cares?? You guys screamed and moaned about Factions. They put it back in , in the form it's in. Faction fighters stand around Luna bank in their gear and do nothing..Oh they occasionally attack their own for a minute or two to show how 733t they are....you asked for it, here it is....

The *NEW* factions is all about getting the faction gear. Surprise, surprise. Its like every other aspect of UO. The only way to get anyone to do anything in this game is to offer them pixel crack. The PvP community screamed for new blood. 'Fix factions so people will participate.' Well, they got people participating. The same people that use every shortcut available to do everything else in this game are using shortcuts in factions.

There are a handful of people left that enjoy the occasional challenges thrown our way by the Dev team. Those challenges are so few and far between the rest starved to death and left. I'm speaking of the challenges to our minds. How many figured out the Melissa quest on their own?

my question to the people who have posted so far, How many of you play factions? or have faction players?

I'll admit that there are people who dump off their points on a mule to save the points incase they are killed in a faction fight. That isn't a bad move. preservation of their points is in their rights. There are also people who feel that they want to wear their kill points like murder counts. You can't have enough. I don't see that as a bad thing too. The point system does need to be tweaked tho.

I see more tram guilds at the bank, showing off their gear/pets than faction/pvp guilds. Infact, I'm seeing tram guilds start wading into the waters of Fel for the sake of spawns or they can't afford non-faction items. So, if they get faction gear, are they just standing around looking "leet" too or that they are using a shortcut as well? Don't just lump everyone who's red or oj into that please.

We have fights at bases. I like to steal sigils in hopes that we do get a fight at the base or someplace else. Fighting at Yew all the time can be very boring sometimes. Nothing like defending a sigil that will allow you to place guards at your enemies base just to **** them off.

Where in that statement did I lump everyone who's red or oj?(whatever oj is). But by all means if you love the fit of those Rockports, then please wear them with pride.

this is not a thread to whine about faction items. it's a thread to compile info from pvper to pvper about guilds that are blatantly abusing the system.

"oj" is an expression used to describe a character in a faction other than the one your character(s) belong to. I believe it may be based on the fact that their name shows up in orange when you're both in Fel.

(Hope that doesn't come across as condescending....don't know how else to explain it.)
