Hi, I have a rune beetle/nightmare combo, neither has maxed stats, but they are well trained. This might seem like a stupid question, but what kinds of high end things can they handle? Before I get them completely whacked....and myself...

As long as your vetting/healing skills are good, they can handle most anything up to Peerless level. For Peerless, I prefer having a tank of some sort (gdrag or dexxer) and then sick them on the boss in a support role after the tank engages, where they are devastating. I generally will not take them against Peerless if there isn't a tank, as it's too difficult with a higher end mob to keep them alive.

My vet is only 113.9 is that good enough for them to take on just about anything?

Neither one has great hitpoints. The nightmare has 315 and the rune beetle has 345. Should I work on better stat pets first?

Sorry for the nubbishness, just been gone a while and trying to gauge how far behind the 8 ball I am

I'd try using the pets you have and see how you get on. Your vet skill ought to be fine, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of gains while you try more adventurous hunting. If you wanted to, you could try the pet power calculator at uocraft.com and that'll give you a better idea of their strengths/weaknesses. In the past I've used average pets as "stunt pets" taking them to places I'm unsure of first, before I'll risk death skill losses on a higher end pet. Then when it's bonded I know how to train it quickly and which hunts are safe.

That combo is great I use it all the time as has been stated though it is very hard to keep them alive with peerless

I use my beetle/mare combo for everything.

Literally, everything except for champ spawns (controlling two pets is too much of a pain for me there) and soloing the Monsterous Interred Grizzle.

One of these days I'll finish training my bake, then the mare will get a much deserved rest.

I am going to try to get a couple bake's, but once I am used to fighting again, I died to a WW the other day, it wasn't good...

Using Enhanced Bandages will add +10 to your Vet skill and it even goes above your cap.

If I'm not mistaken, your Mare has max hit points and your Rune is 15 short of max. Check out Stratics' Complete Hunter's Guide
