I have started burning some runics and got a decent result on the very first stroke:
Heavy Ornate Axe
HLL 84%
HSL 32%
HML 56%
DI 48%
I plan to store this and when SA is released attempt to imbue it with maximal SSI.
If it were imbued at maximal SSI that would violate the HLL cap predicated on swing speed. See it. I don't know if imbuing will actually allow that to happen, but I hope so.
Looking at the formula for HLL, it seems that this weapon would grant 33.6% of damage back to the wielder as life. That appears to be a significant increase over the 20% life drain of vamp form, assuming I understand the life drain effect correctly.
My thought is that this level of HLL could potentially garner the primary benefit of vamp form without having to spend 100 points on necromancy or endure the role playing complexities of a confabulating necromancy and chivalry. Obviously, the poison resistance of vamp form would be lost, but I might run resist in its place anyway. I feel naked without resist.
