Characte x-fer to Siege. Would there be any way it could work?

I know all the reasons it may be considered a bad idea.
The skill training on Siege is much different and in some cases harder than Prod. shards. Maybe some other reasons due to gold and items?

But regardless. Do you believe there is any way an x-fer to Siege would ever work?
Perhaps if you could only x-fer the character. No items/gold whatsoever?

No sorry, a part of starting on Siege is to grow up on Siege. We once lost RoT and saw how bad it effected Siege with players making gm chars i 5 days, char transfer would be even worse.

Considering all if not a majority of the dupes over the past few years can be attributed to character transfers.

No.

There's too much room for error. Even one day where you could xfer prodo-items because of a hick-up in the coding would be disasterous.

So again...

No.

This is a little bit of a step back for me, since in the past i have been completely against it but here is how I would agree to a x-transfer from the prodo shards to Siege...

  • Nekked - no clothing, no armor, no jewels, no weapons
  • No pack animal transfers
  • No pet transfers
  • No gold transfers
  • No item transfers (including regs and other resources)
  • Skill cap at 100 in any skill
  • Stats cap at 230 (for vet players, 225 for newbs)
  • All stat and skill scrolls erased from the character

What this would do is to get players to transfer to Siege with possible 7x GM characters. Players would need to take the time to earn gold to be able to buy power and stat scrolls. No items or resources would be brought to the shard. Players could learn the shard while training up to 120 in the skills they want, but at the same time, they could get onto the shard and start competing in the field.

What do you think?...la

Changes the skill cap (Skill cap at 100 in any skill) to 33% stat loss from the transfer, then I may be able to accept it.

x-fer would completely defeat the purpose of Seige.
I did not really mind when we had advance char tokens, the way to 80 do not take that long anyway and the char would be a little more playable, but sure not ready to PK.

I wish ROT was on all shards, I hate GGS

Only one you come in neked no nothing, any scroll used would not be active anymore and all skills over 70 get reverted to 70 skill(when rot kicks in) and 150 total stat points.

how about 80, which is what the advance char tokens set a character to.

Character Xfer to Siege would be like character Xfer from Test Center to a production shard... neither should happen.

Dermott it's also not fair for you to influence any "possible" changes to Siege when you've clearly admitted you have no desire to ever play there.

I'd agree with that if people asking about game aspects on the other servers weren't spammed with Siege based replies.

And my statement has nothing to do with my desire or lack thereof to play Siege, just that I feel that the integrity of Siege itself would be as compromised by people X-ferring normal shard characters over as the normal shards would by allowing Test Center characters to be moved to normal shards.

This of course is given the current X-fer setup, standards, and rules which I disagree with to begin with regardless of source and destination. X-ferring shards should have only been for the character, skills, and stats and should start you off with a "newbie pack" based on a random choice of the top 3 skills. Allowing people to xfer items has been a HUGE mistake.

So that's where I am coming from in the statement. Basically under the current method of xferring a character, you could potentially dump TONS of extra gold and items into the Siege dynamic which would wreak havok considering how Siege works.

Why would anyone want to transfer over if they were to lose up to 40 points off of any skill at 120? Why would anyone want to be placed at a skill point disadvantage? Only allow them to transfer the character and nothing else. Knocking their skills down to 80 means they will have little chance to compete.

Not a very compelling reason to transfer IMO.

I know this is an advanced shard. I have 2 characters there I play from time to time. I know if I didn't have a character there, I wouldn't even give it a passing thought to transfer if I was going to lose all those hours of working skills.

I can't help but feel a sense of elitism on a shard with a small playerbase. Unless I am missing something, what would be the harm in letting players keep their skills where they are? Don't say that you earned them via ROT either.

I just see this discussion as being self defeating with the stipulations being presented.
