Perhaps I did not look well enough, I cannot seem to find this information.

If a player is at a skill cap (whether 100, 105, 110, 115 or 120) but through the use of jewellery, when using that given skill that is at the CAP max but only through the use of jewellery, does the skill raise ?

For example, say that a player REAL skill is 105.5 but thanking to jewellery the player has actually a total of 120.0 in that skill.

If the player uses the skill through game play while wearing the jewellery that brings it to the CAP max does the real skill go up from 105.5 ??

Thanks.

The skill does still gain. The check is done based on the target of most skills and, also the higher your skill at the time of check the less chance you have to gain. (example hitting a slime with 105.5 skill will result in no chance to gain swords due to target check, where as anatomy is not checked the same and ANY hit can result in a gain)
You could be making it harder to gain by wearing them.

This is true, but at the same time it will allow you to use your skill on higher end targets and pretty much get the same skill gain. It kinda depends on which skill you are talking about, and Popps did not say.

What I mean is, if you have 90 swords and want to jewel up to 120 swords, go hit trogs, swoops or miasma and you will gain almost as fast as if you had no jewelry on and went after lower level creatures. Plus the loot and gold is better. Heh

I did this with tactics, my swords was in the right level to gain of trogs (around 90) but my tactics was too low, after about an hour i pretty much had gm'd swords for .2tactics gain. Went and jeweled tactics to 90 and boom!!! GAINS GALORE

Yes it will and if it has not been said, unless you are gaining skill at the expense of another skill, you will not be notified of the skill increase.

Such that if Taming is at 120 with Jewelry and it is at 90 real and your total skill is 699. You will gain in Taming and not be notified of the skill gain.

Same example but your total is 700/705 and say Wrestling is turned down. You wont get the Taming skill notification but you will get the Wrestling loss notification.

I suppose the logic to this is that the Skill notification is based on a skill gain. I assume it is looking at the apparent skill to determine if there is a skill gain. If that is true and Taming is 90 real + 25 Jewelry + 5 Library totem then there is no apparent skill gain, even though there is a skill gain to the real Taming.
