as a person who really enjoys going to new shards and making new characters on my down time, ive noticed a massive shortcoming in New Haven.

While new haven as a whole is great, gets you a nice boost on any skill you want to start, there are of course gapping holes left in some skills sets.

no barding skills are represented with the 'quest' to boost you to 50.

tailoring either.

stealing.

alchemy.

taming, vet, animal lore.

im sure there are others.

im just wondering why something so good was started but not finished?
specially for some of the harder skills like taming and such.

But, but, but, you'll make my quest pages out of date, and I only just finished them!

(just kidding)

Agreed! Infact they should all be added to NewHaven.... save maybe spellweaving for obvious reasons.... Course I still think Chivy and Ninjitsu don't belong there... or Bushido or Necromancy.... those should be where they were.... if you want to make accelerated gains there then gate them there... but those skills should NOT be in NewHaven... just seems wrong.

They asked this at the San Diego town hall. The answer was they just ran out of time before New Haven was implemented. I believe they also said if there was enough of an interest in them, they'd look into adding quests for other skills. Like you, I agree the other skills should get some love with the new player quests!

I think that they should complete it, if for no other reason than to drive home the problem with a lack of low-end gameplay for many skills. Doing any of the ninja quests (eg: hiding, stealth, tracking) is a real exercise in tedium, even with the acceleration.

Yes, this is true, I believe. According to my memory, Leurocian said that a document(s) for quests of barding skills was(were) already made, but there wasn't enough time to implement them.

They both should of been there upon the launch of New Haven, like we don't have any Bards or Tailors...... Just go to any bank & what 2 sounds do you hear.... snipping & music almost constantly on any shard.

BTW, if you start a standard Blacksmith template in KR, you get 30 Smith (buyable to 40), 30 mining, and 30 tinker (both buyable to 33.3) (Same as 2D), PLUS 30 Tailoring.

For someone starting on a shard from scratch, it's probably the best option for a crafter, as you'll spend less than 200 of your 1000 starting gold on those skills, buy up two more skills to 40, and be 5 quick quests from having 5 of 6 skills to 50.

If you are just adding a crafter to an account with existing characters, though, you are probably better off starting a KR custom template (and maybe getting Carpentry, and funding skill purchases with gold from the other characters).

... and they totally left out flash-dancing, the toughest skill in the game.

It's just so hard to work up from zero, getting the stool just right and then trying to get the bucket of water to actually hit you takes hundreds of tries.

I mean, come on.

New Haven has no love for fishing too. As you dont start with newbified items anymore a blessed fishing pole from a haven quest for new fishers would be a really nice gift.
I would like to see some more areas for accelarated skill gains and a little change to them. Let every skill getting accelerated which is below 50 and not only those for which are quests available. I miss such areas at the docks and near the training dolls of old haven. (Or put some dolls near an existing area of accelerated skill gain.)

and why does doing the hiding quest give you smoke bombs?????

you cant use them unless you have ninja.

so they really have nothing to do with the hiding skill per say.
