Yup... as I recall, most GMs were giggling like little schoolgirls to put their name on things.

I didn't GM smithing until dec 2001 (just looked it up in my archives.) But I remember some of my friends being very excited and giving out all sorts of things.

I sorta recall there was an initial bug where everyone got the mark on exceptionals, but I may be thinking later on.

The maker's mark and the ability to craft exceptional items, finally motivated me to create a crafter character. Back then, if you were able to craft exceptional items, your help was in great demand.
