EA/UO In Game NO SUPPORT strikes again

My sis was fighting monsters and got overloaded she was trying to leave when she got dismounted by a Cyclopian. she was able to leave and after empting her backpack discovered the ethy llama she was dismounted from was missing. Its not in the cyclopian area she though maybe it was in one of our four houses but she can not find it.

She paged a GM to help find it. She DID NOT WANT IT REPLACED!! She has vet reward picks left. She even put a disclaimed in her page in capital letters to that effect and still all she gets is the canned BS message "We cannot replace lost or stolen item...bs-bs etc.

Here's a novel idea: If you wanna keep customers EA how about actual customer service instead of customer NO SERVICE...and they wonder why they lost 1 Billion dollars last quarter.....well duh!

Chrissay- How about you let some of the 8+ year Veteran players volunteer as GMs? We've been playing long enough that we know the game inside and out. You would only be out the time to train us. You would have better customer support and at absolutely NO COST to you! (say that part to the accounting people cause we accounting types love the phrases "NO COST", "FREE", "COMPLIMENTARY" and "SAMPLE" hehehe)

Was she overloaded, or did she have 125 items in her backpack? I believe that if she had 125 items in her bag, and dismounted her ethy... It would have appeared on the floor. Is it likely that some stranger picked it up?

I hear ya JJ, support is so lax now "if" they do get new customers coming in from other games that actually did have ingame customer support and get the bs support we have in UO...it would look pretty unprofessional. Someone with no time invested I'm pretty sure might say screw it and move on to something else.

Is it possible that some of the creatures might have picked it up or do they just loot corpses not to mention were there other players in the area? If it isn't too late for it decay try holding ctrl+shift and see if it shows up on the ground. Also look in the bankbox.

No disrespect but there isn't really anything at all a gm can do for your sis...
If it's in one of the houses, SHE should look for it since it is her mess. I mean, if I lose something in my house I'm not going to call the police to help me look for it, lol.
If it isn't there then it probably landed on the ground where she got dismounted if she had 125 items in her bag. A gm can't find her own specific item if it got put on the ground. Items are not linked to a person that way so you know where it landed. Plus it may have gotten looted and thus gone.

Did she check all containers in her backpack and bank? It's so easy when you get in a situation like that to move stuff around trying to find something to lighten the load. Maybe she moved it into a bag in her backpack without realizing it.

She was in Ilishnear fight Cyclops, Titans and Ettins. One of them does a paralyzing or concussion blow which DOES dismount you. I have been dismounted over there too. Might have been a Paragon.

first, if you're an 8+ year vet then you'll remember the counselor and seer programs, which were essentially that and were rife with corruption. You think it would be any different today?

and second, its not the GMs fault that she misplaced her ethy. And as the canned response said, they can't replace lost items anyway, so what good would it do for a gm to show up to assist you?

I've had wonderful luck with GMs, as long as my problem was legit. This screenshot was taken yesterday, in fact. (in this case, a bugged container that couldn't be moved after being released)

That's why I said 8 years or longer because someone who's invested that much time into UO is less likely to abuse the GM position. Veterans Rewards are account coded(as stated by Wilki) she was hoping GM could just locate it.

HELL NO, she didn't expect the GM to search two 3 story 18x18, one Keep and one castle. Dude I hate looking for anything in th castle cause its at limit ATM! Neither she nor I would ask a GM to do something we wouldn't do.

I don't think anything could be done for your sister. I often fight cyclopes myself and I have never... NEVER been dismounted. Maybe it was something else you were fighting, but I honestly don't think she was dismounted by a cyclopes. If she was, it would have fallen to the ground just like all items fall when they don't fit into your pack.
I do think, though, that EA could "hire" veteran players who have no reports against them and no bad reputation as GMs. I'm not sure how they could go about finding the right players (for example, I'd never want the infamous Luna Bank sitter who points fingers at random people for duping to be a GM), but I would love to see players engaged so that when people really do have legit situations that are sometimes over looked, they would be more likely to help. These people, though, would probably have to be seriously monitored by EA.

Support has been awsome for me in the last year you all need to submit your requests better i think. I have had the gm's come to me even reveal once and dealt with my issue each time i paged them. The gm's are kind and doing us a great service keep up the good work. Just get the devs to do a help request guide to show all the NO SUPPORT chumps around here what is and is not dealt with be handy info then the canned response will happen less often.

Sounds like you did not pass on critical info to your sister about weight limits (something a eight year vet should know).

This has nothing to do with poor service, rather its about instant gratification and not owning up to making a mistake.

Even if the mount was linked to her account in some way, a GM would be unable to find it unless the account was linked to the mount.

(In programming terms, just because something has a pointer in it saying "I belong to some other object", doesn't mean that target object has a similar pointer in it going the other way).

The item was lost, quite possibly no longer in the game. You wanted it back. GMs cannot replace lost or stolen items, and by "replace" they don't only mean "recreate" - they can't give you the originals back, either.

How the page was phrased makes no difference to what was being requested.

Giving players GM powers would only end in tragedy. Even if they were used responsibly, other players would accuse them of cheating, while complaining that they don't have similar powers themselves. It'd turn into a massive s*** storm.
