The Sampire learning curve slaps me upside the head..

I finally hit my weak spot with my Sampire. At 109 Swords, 120 Parry and 100ish Bushido I stepped into the blood dungeon. My first Blood Ele let me know all my so called power was nothing. Dead, faster than I could count. I guess I need to go turn my Spell Resist back on. Back to the drawing board. All about learning this new character. hehe

I'm not sure what the rest of your template is, and I'm just assuming that you remembered to put vampire form on (I made that mistake quite a bit).

So this is my advice.
Before you engage, make sure the following spells are active:
Enemy of one
Consecrate weapon
And if you're worried about that initial mana dump, use evasion right after its first spell.

Also make sure you honor your opponent.

Make sure you have a weapon that swings at the maximum swing speed.

A slayer weapon would be nice too.

Swinging a Soulseeker

EOO and Vamp were on. No resist at all though. He just schooled me.

This was a paragon right? hehe:blushing:

Usually after you handle the first spell dump, you can ride it out after that. Try not to run early, and keep that Consecrate going so you always hit their weakest resist.

And make sure you honor first! Lots of extra damage comes from that.

What kind of damage increase do you have? The soulseeker is great for leeches, but doesn't have any damage inc. on it (i don't think).:D

The most important info needed was left out.....what are your resists?
also, get a better weapon than a soul seeker.

use a trap box...
make sure to use evasion when it is up

para blood elemental should not be hard at all

The true test would be para barlon and suck a bus

oh yeah you got honor in before you attacked right?

Resists are 70/50/70/41/63
Phys/Fire/Cold/Poison/Energy

All of these in Vampire form.

I didn't quite understand "honoring" until today. I thought it was just a Virtue thing. So I will from now on.

This is your problem right here. You need MUCH higher Fire resist, and you could really use more poison as well, though Fire is much more important.

And yes, you MUST Honor everything you fight. That's how you get the extra 100% DI from Perfection.

I gotta tell you, this seemed so easy to build this character. And to be honest it has been extremely powerful, very fast. HOWEVER, I am starting to learn all the nuances of the build now, and it's a bit most complex but totally FUN!!

This is my BIGGEST error after I die. I'm getting better, but the bulk of my deaths can be attributed to this "little" step.:wall:

Yeah, your problem is your resists (assuming, as Farsight said, that VE was on -- I forget to re-engage it all the time after dying) -- even with soulseeker, you should be schooling non-paragon blood elementals.

This would get you killed and the reason is that blood elemental has 50% poison / 50% energy damage for its melee

41 poison resist means a paragon blood elemental can chew you up especially when you are paralyzed and casted a fire spell on you

Be sure to research the monster you are fighting

Pretty good point I have to admit. Knowing what you are fighting is just as important as the mobs fighting tactics. As far as paragon bloods go, I would fight those and not move on until they are pretty much mince meat in a few seconds. With a good weapon and tactics...they will be. Honor and perfection are what make up the sampire warrior that you are trying to become. Without those, you might as well just be standing naked and swinging a sword with lumberjacking skill.
