PvP Template Versatility

I am thinking about starting a character to learn to PvP, because honestly I love PvM, but am looking for a new challenge.

I want to have a well rounded warrior template, does anyone have any suggestions to point me in the right direction?

Not really thinking I want stealth because I just plan on running around, dont want to be bothered with that aspect of it.

Thanks much for the input, look forward to learning from some of you folks!! ;)

Don't even bother with UO PvP.

Success doesn't come from RL skill or even a good template.

In UO it comes from your ability to download 3rd party cheats.

By far the easiest effective PvP template to learn to play is the archer.

That is, 120 archery, tactics, resist, healing, anatomy and 100-120 points split between chivalry and meditation (or focus, or something else that's effective at less than 100 points).

The reason it's so easy to learn is that there are only about 10 different actions you need to learn to not lose a fight (winning a fight is a different matter). Connection is less of an issue than it is if you're a melee fighter as well.

And once you get the right gear (I hate to say it, but it's true), then you can become a real force in the field.

When you want to focus on talent and actual value to a group, play a mage. It's expensive and its harder as mages aren't the be all and end all of pvp but in a group, multiple mages are worth more than multiple anything elses.

Be prepared for lots of disappointment. It does not matter how good you are at your warrior/archer template. You will either find yourself dismounted and continually disarmed so that you have no DCI. So when you re arm you are disarmed as quickly as you armed. Then you’re dead. Or, you will be dismounted and be eaten alive by a dread warhorse. Both are all the time experiences in UO pvp. Now if you want to compete, you can use those tactics on others and be called great.

there is a small % that run cheats but UO is all they have in life, those of us that have a good real life dont seem to feel the need to cheet to be teh leet'est mackdaddy superpimp PvP'ers. Its all about going out with your friends and having some fun win or loose.

Come to Siege, there is pretty much no speed hackers and really they are so terrible you won't notice.

Seriously a great place to learn to pvp, though we do have faction arties there are plenty here that don't use them, in a few short weeks you could have everything you need to pvp, where as on other shards it could take you forever to get the gold and items needed to compete.

100% agreed, i have recently joined siege & i LOVE THIS SHARD!, it's the most like the good old day's of UO & PvP on this shard seems like it's revered. I think anyone wanting to start doing PvP should seriously consider starting it on siege.

Except it will take you 3 months to build a character only to find that it's predominantly stealthers and tamers (or both).

I say take Farsight's advice.
You could replace archery with Swords, get an Ornate axe, and spam disarms. Those axes can really hurt.:D

Actually the tamer populace has gone down due to our current guild wars going on, everyone agreed no tamers.

There is alot of stealth but not a majority, you will always find fights.

sorry but an archer is a wrong temp for a starter.. any dexxer temp is easy to play.. but an archer is the most expensive template to make, considering that any decent bow is gonna run an easy 50-100+mil...
