Pets for PvP

Ok, so I'm going to join the Stealth Ninja Tamer club on Siege, but I am curious...what pets seem to work the best against other players. I know the GD seems to rile most PvPers the most, but besides this one...what are good combos to use against mages or dexxers?...la

Oh, and if you are wondering my template will look like this...any tips would be appreciated.

120 Taming
115 Magery
105 Ninja
100 Lore
100 Vet
100 Hiding
80 Stealth

Now I just need to get my taming up, it's at 55 or so right now and is awfully boring...la

Just my 2cp's ....

I assume your not going to have a lot of pets and/or voluntarily limit your pet mix by the template above.

Why not drop Vet for EvalInt? I would think as an all around skill vs skill the EvalInt may bring greater benefits to your template than the Vet.

Pet combos in pvp would be:

Dread Mare / Bake
Nightmare / Bake
Beetle / Bake

Those are the combos I'm working on, on a new shard

So that would give you better control ... perhaps over control, one additional stable slot and retain the ability to Rez your own pet.

Like the beetle/bake combo, myself. Fully refreshed, this combo can drop a melee/bush before he can move close enough to hit them.

Bake - has more HP than mare, 4x mana of a mare, and insane resists; this ones good for dmg

Beetle - DP, bleed, armor corrupt; you can't heal if you're bleed/DP

Re: template, 115 taming/lore is plenty imo.

Note also that the Beetle has an insane dex score. It's pretty much impossible to outrun one if you get dismounted.

Welp, with the help of some jewels, I got a couple of bakes sitting in the stable. Still a way off from being able to tame a beetle, so it will have to wait. I'm at 67.2 taming as I type this. Hopefully I'll have the time to get up to 70 so I can get into RoT son so my gains will be more steady...la

For control, I would rather have 110 tame/110 lore as depending on the pet difficulty you might suffer a control penalty with 120 tame/100 lore.

Play a bit with the pet control calculator to find the skill combo matching your needs.

Check the link http://uo.stratics.com/content/skills/anim.php?sort=Taming and judge, the only pets you need high taming for are GD's, Cus and dreads. As you can see from the chart, with gm/gm you have a 99%control chance on a beetle/bake combo.

(the chart is pretty much spot on btw)

The nightmare/beetle combo is a nice combo due to the mountability of the mare. However for a stealther you will be on foot so this isnt an issue. So, for sheer output of damage the beetle/bake rules. Bleed, DP, Corrupt armour(not sure if this still aplies PvP), Rage and 800mana! Add the fact that both pets can have over 140stam and...OUCH!

Just a thought, have you considered not going for magery and maybe trying a melee skill? (riding swipe dismount eg.)

True, true.

Hmm...I have a feeling you may want to try and get at least some eval, so you can para spam as your dismounting/chasing

GD is going to be your best bet for that style of template.

Mare/Bake, Mare/Beetle, Beetle/Bake... those can all be easily solo'd out and killed.

GD on the other hand...that's a lot tougher to take down. Not to mention, you'll be stealthing around a lot with your pet in tow. It's easier having a high HP magic caster wandering around then something that is more vulnerable to a slayer and can be dropped in a few hits.

Find a GD with high wrestle/tacs/magery and you're set. To me, resists/HP aren't nearly as important as you're just needing a hard hitter. GD stealth tamers aren't really meant for long drawn out fights. You want to kill quick and be over with it.

You could also drop vet down to 50ish and just have some +vet jewels so that you can throw them on to rez pet when needed.

What I'll probably do is drop (on a stone) vet for times that I am PvPing (meaning, stealth..."all kill"). Then throwing on 80 points of Stealing so I can nab sigils. I can always heal the pet with magery. Since I already have stealing stoned at 120 points, it will suck to have to work the skill up again, so I can have it 80...lol...la
