I remember doing a stress test on Samurai Empire beta and only being able to move one step every few minutes. LOL

The Beta page went up a bit early but the official announcement will be made tomorrow. You are welcome to sign up and more information should be available tomorrow.

Edit: we are also looking into getting the page secure as the sign up page went up earlier than expected.

I'm a bit surprised EA/Mythic put up an insecure form that requests the account name. Somebody didn't think that through very well.

Regardless, I'm in. If it had asked for my password I would have wondered if this was just a well-crafted phishing trip.

Im pretty sure just once, think it may have said that at bottom of sign up page.

This is so exciting we been waiting a looooong time.

That is a good question. I only signed up for one account, but I have others.

I have a wide variety of hardware and software combos on which I could test, so is it appropriate to register other account / hardware / software combos.

That is a question to Mythic.

Give it up with the SSL whining. No one wants your address, birthday, email enough to snoop or MiM it.

You should only have throwaway stuff associated with a game anyway if you have such significant security concerns.

I believe the Beta Testing Agreement limits you in section (H)1. to installing the software onto one computer only.

I believe the form has gone up before it was completed, read Chrissay's post further back. I'm waiting for UK to be added to the list before I attempt to sign up.

I'd assume a 3-6 week sign up and respond time frame. I could see them taking 2-4 weeks to receive sign ups, then another 1-2 weeks worth of respond time. And, of course, I don't expect people that aren't selected to ever hear that they aren't selected.

I know that people in a closed beta usually have a gag restriction, meaning they are not allowed to talk about what they see, but are they allowed to say that they are IN the closed beta?

Sam Adams? Always a good choice! I'll take two after the day I've had. This beta sign up (sadly) was the highlight of my day.

Yeah, sorry, that was poorly worded.

I meant due to that restriction, would it be appropriate to register other accounts that would use other hardware setups.

I have had too much vicodin.

I'll be fine with that. That makes me wonder though... If that is part of the SA client, then either the Legacy client would need to be updated with that same functionality or the Legacy client would need to be discon... well I don't want to start one of those tomato flinging arguments. It wouldn't seem right to have that feature in the SA client while another existing client still existed that didn't...

I think punkbuster sucks because of its EULA.

AND

Both punkbuster and this RAM scanning privilege can be easily obviated by the technically sophisticated who will write tools for those that lack such sophistication.

Still, its better than punkbuster.
