Is Item ID skill no longer valuable? If so should i set it down or leave it incase they make it into something useful

Item Id has no current use as you get your item id'ed when you mouse over the item. there may be some use for it in the future.

Item Imbuing? Details?
It's been suggested that item id will display the total intensities of a magic item. That way, you can easily tell what kind of ingredient you will get prior to actually unravelling (and destroying) the item.

Of course, if you are good at mental calculations, you might not need it.

Partially correct, it will make things alot simpler. It is said that it will show you the resource you will recieve upon unravaling.(no calculations needed, it will give you the name)

The thing I don't get is why you wouldn't want to just unravel everything. I feel this must be common knowledge, as everyone's talking about how Item ID will be useful, but I'm too lazy to try and research it for myself.

So: Why wouldn't you just unravel everything you come across? Wouldn't this be just as fast as ID'ing the items then unraveling/discarding?

No idea, it would be nice if you could use item id like a prospectors tool.

Bump it up a level if you id the resource first. That would make it really worthwhile skill to have then.

THAT'S exactly what I was thinking, especially when people request new line stats on item properties. Unravel everything and keep the good stuff, use the rest for skill gain for imbuing.

The only advantage that I see is you wouldn't have to drag everything out of the dungeon (too much weight). But then, with KR and the new SA client, it's easy to see max properties that are color coded on items.

the only thing item i.d. used for right now is changing the title on old slayer weapons that read "a magic ..." back to normal.

I wonder if those old Item ID wands and staffs will be of use now?
