I saw a message in UHall suggesting that on some shards that "Balck Rocks" went up in price from 5K to 1M.

I guess I must have missed it, too. I just picked up almost 400 of them from in front of a single house. (I couldn't just leave 'em! ) So, if they have shot up in price, that would be excellent! I don't think they did, though. =)

My biggest concern is that it would be easy to run a market with a vendor search without constraints. Now I take into account more vendors might mean more product and the influx could make cornering impossible.

But here are some examples..
Phillips Wooden Steads from 5k to 500k with hithching post introduction.

Black Rock for 100k to 1 million when the blackrock merchants showed.

I am 100% clueless as to the reference. I figure it is with out doubt Shard specific, so I thought I would ask here for any assistance in understanding this.

I found maybe 30-40 on an IDOC a couple weeks back (I changed the location of one of my houses to the spot).

This sounds like a reference to the blackrock traders that appeared in Haven. For a short while you could turn in pieces of blackrock to them in exchange for some decent items. See this link in uoguide http://www.uoguide.com/A_Trader

I do not believe the regular small mined pieces of blackrock are worth anything now.

depends on the type of blackrock your selling. You have the mined up "a small piece of blackrock" which is very common these days due to the miners. You have "a large piece of blackrock" that comes in various weights from 5 to 25 stones and 4 different shapes. Lastly, you have the event dropped blackrock "a piece of blackrock" that comes in various large gem style shapes. The event dropped blackrock would be the higher value one considering most of it was turned in. During the Blackrock merchants days before they redesigned haven people were awarded high value items for turning it in.
