BOD Gathering Efficiency

Hey all,

I am back on OSI after a few year sabbatical. We didn't have "resets" back then. I am looking to start collecting reset bods but I want to ensure I do it in the most efficient manor.

Is Luna the best option? Run down the stairs from the inn, grab a tailor, grab a smithy and run back up? Log out right in front of the door?

Also, is there a way to record a macro to collect the BOD from the NPC? Like run by the tailor and hit ALT-F1, run by the smith and just hit ALT-F2?

All opinions are welcomed.

Thanks!

What is a "reset BOD"? Once you are above 70 skill, you can collect them every 6 hours. There are no macro options in the 2D client to allow you to collect a BOD when you are near the NPC.

Once you turn in a BOD, you can immediately request for another BOD. So if you turn in a total of 5 BODs, you can leave with 5 unfilled BODs. You have to request the new BOD, after you turn in the first BOD. Your timer resets any time you collect a BOD, so (assume gm skill = 6hr timer) if you collected a BOD 3 hours ago (at 12:00), then you turn one in (at 3:00) and collect another one, you will have to wait six hours (until 9:00) before you can collect another BOD (instead of at 6:00, because the last BOD reset your timer). If you are turning in a few BODs, I suggest you wait to turn them in until just after you receive your regularly scheduled one. This way it wont upset you timer too much, if you are running several BOD collectors. If you are turning in a few hundred BODs, then it does not matter when you do it, because it will take some time to turn them all in (so it will always mess with your schedule).

Stayin Alive,

BG

Also note that smiths get a colored BOD bonus now

50% weapon, 25% iron armor, 25% colored armor at 70-109.9
50% weapon, 15% iron armor, 35% colored armor at 110-119.9
50% weapon, 5% iron armor, 45% colored armor at 120.

That is what I needed to know, thank you.

Is Luna the best place to collect bods?

Oh, and "reset" bods are the bods you collect with .1 skill tailor and smiths that you use to reset your bod collection timer. At least that is the name I know them by.

Also, are there any UO or UOA options to automatically open doors as you approach them?

Isn't the bod timer per character?

You can't collect on one character to reset the timer on a different character can you? Am I totally misreading what you mean?

There isn't really a "best" place to collect bods. I guess Luna is the most convenient? Cos they are close together? But Haven has them pretty close together too =)

The timer resets to 0 if you turn in a BOD, for the character turning it in.

So, a 120 Smith can go in to the NPC with 100 BODs, request their new BOD, then turn in a BOD, get another new BOD, turn in another BOD, get another new BOD, etc., leaving the shop 10-15 minutes later with 101 new BODs. If they don't filll those immediately to turn back in, they have to wait 6 hours, but as long as you've got a filled BOD to turn in, what time is on the counter has no meaning.

Many people have 0.1 smith (and 0.1 tailor) on all their non-crafter characters to get the extra BODs to do this with, as the 0.1 allows them to get a normal iron (cloth, for tailors) BOD every hour for each of those characters. Even if one only does it 4 times a day for 6 characters, that's 24 BODs to go with whatever BODs you get with the crafter, for each of the two BOD-giving skills.

Precisely. Though clicking the context menu 12 times every hour can be a pain which is why I had wondered about a macro. However, if there isn't a macro then I'll just be happy we have this new reset system.

Ahh! I get ya! I *did* misread your post Podolak - sorry!

Heh - I have so many bods at home that I haven't filled, that I don't need to worry about that for, well, some time to come ;)

Luna is probably the fasts place to go if your just logging in chars to grab bod and logging them out. You can do all that from upstairs, you can insta log a char if you put them in the corner just south of the door. Then all you have to do is take a couple steps towards the benches, collect both tailoring and smith bods, back up a couple steps and log back out. Repeat with next char.

I am liking this idea but how do I bring up the context menu to request the BOD? Is there way around this?

While upstairs in luna, CTRL-SHIFT to get the name bubbles of the Smith/Tailor NPCs. Click on the bubble to get the menu. Select give me my BOD, repeat for other NPC type, run back to courner and log out. I hate running the stairs, makes my legs sore.
