I read in the publish notes that the Ilshenar champ spawn has been fixed.
But lately, I'm getting the feeling that either there is a new bug, or that I'm doing something wrong somewhere.
I've soloed the champ spawn a few times on the lower level spawn on my home shard, Oceania, and in all of the time it takes to work through the shadow wisps and wisps spawn, I do not get any SOT's at all dropping into my backpack most of the time.
Maybe I kill things too slowly or something but I would have thought if I'm the only one out there killing the spawn that there should be at least a small chance something should drop.
I don't bother looting the non-paragon shadow wisp spawn because I've already got plenty of bones, but I do bother with looting the wisp spawn as 30k of gold in the bank with a bag of sending is very beneficial to my characters. I loot paragon shadow wisps because of the chance for chocolatiering ingredients and a small amount of gold.
Perhaps 3% chance is too low for the RNG to kick in. I do feel if someone works a spawn they should at least have a minimum guaranteed chance of getting a drop at some point.
I have also joined in on spawn at the wisp level, and gotten to where Lord Oaks spawns, and eventually releases his Lady after being attacked by players, and received nothing in return for all the trouble I go to in order to kill Silvani and Lord Oaks. Sometimes my greater dragon gets unlucky and dies, and I've got to spend time healing him up and then get him back into the fight but I'm okay with that. I do wish I could find ways of getting to items I need to speed up my character, the current looting system leaves a lot to be desired when looking for good stuff. And the RNG doesn't help if you don't actually have luck on your suit.
I do know that I don't have a lot of mana regen on the Sorcerer's suit I'm wearing on my tamer, and that I should probably want to get taming jewels with better mods and FC/FCR on them but there should be at least some kind of chance I'll get a drop of some sort from Lord Oaks when i join in with others to kill him.
I'm not exactly in favour of looting rights going exclusively to the top damagers - this is purely and simply unfair for all the spawn I've killed. I'm also not liking the wiping of the spawn points at the end of the champ. There has to be a way of making sure that drops from a champ spawn will drop according to how well the player is doing over time if they're working champ spawns. There should also be some sort of magical item which can tell them if they're working enough of the spawn or putting out enought damage onto the champ, much like the skill tutor statuettes work.
Perhaps the Doom Artifact system that drops items for people over time could be adapted to work with Ilshenar champ spawns. I don't mind receiving rubbish items, like the begging or item ID SOT's, or even the cavorting club artifact. But I would like to be able to receive something, occasionally, for my troubles or I may as well just go back to farming ogre lords for gold. They really are not very difficult at all with a greater dragon.
Cheers ...
