Wanna gain Compassion on your Dexxer?

After a thread on the subject on U.Hall, I thought it might be interesting to organize something for all of us that have dexxers (at least in Trammel).

I'm thinking of starting a 3-5 times weekly "Compassion Gain Event"

How this will work:

I will, at the appointed time and place (typically some place with lots of escort NPCs, and potentially nearby rescues - Trinsic, Vesper or Cove are good for these), have one of my mage characters. For about 1 Hour, I will have a character with magery that will sit there, and take requests for gate locations. You bring your escort up, state the destination, I open the gate, you deliver (and either hustle back through, or recall back to go find a new escort).

Proximity to rescue escorts are important, simply because, unlike town escorts, there is no 5-minute wait timer for rescuing someone (on the other hand, town escorts want you to wait 5 minutes from the point of your last pick-up, even after delivering a rescue).

All I'll ask is that others occasionally help with the gating, so that I too can log onto one of my dexxers and get some escorts in every once in a while (usually, one of my guildmates will help with that - or for that matter, I have the capability. should I really feel like it, to log in all 3 accounts of mine on different computers).

Also part of these events, will be the occasional "classic quest" run. Some nights, I will (after the compassion sessions) take people to either Griselda, or to Elwood, and gate to and from the locations needed for the quest (partying for communications back, or just giving the person a rune to get back to the NPC). As Griselda gives about 1 Sacrifice virtue point per 3 quest runs, that quest has its virtue uses as well.

So, anyone interested? Potentially, these could be any night, except Sundays prior to midnight.

Nice idea, might i suggest you use the captive in the orc dungeon.

Its instant spawning and you can accept the quest immediatly upon completion of the last (no 5min timer in between them).

in case you didnt know, an easy quest to gain compassion on is to mark a rune to the Bravehorn quest and just do that 3 times a day. no gate necessary. just lead him up a few screens to the lake and get good compassion gains.

I would be most interested in this. My main dexxer is Knight of Valor, Sacrifice, and Honor. Would love to add compassion to that list. The prisoner is good for no timer as is Bravehorn as mentioned. I believe that each char can only make 5 rescues per day, however.

Of couse, the big issue is Volume....

For a single character with Magery (including a non-mage using 45 magery from ring, book, and bracelet, and Gate Scrolls), the orc prisoner is great.

But it's not all that accessible to those not familiar with the locale (whereas, my house is probably one of the three closest houses in-game currently standing to the mines), and there IS a bit of a delay (about a 30-60 seconds between it accepting your rescue, and it respawning, so if I was to gate multiple people, one couldn't use just it.

More easy would be to, say, set up on the bridge from Trinsic to barrier island. The island has rescues, and the bridge itself is a guard zone that occasionally brigands spawn in (can you say "Suicide by cop, UO Style"?). When there are no rescues on the island, I could gate to the orc spot (person runs in, gets escort, comes back through) as well as to the deliveries. That way, we get two rescue locations being utilized at once (plus any town escorts someone might grab as their first run).

As usual, Basara has given this much thought. Sounds like a fine plan. Tell me when and where and I will be there if able. I have a mage who could help out also. The mages can also open a gate to Bravehorn when the compassion seeker cannot get a normal escort due to the timer <at least I think you can gate there> ... that way we have all three avenues covered.

Doesn't New Haven have a lot of escort quests? Perhaps that could be a good place to set up base. The base should have the closest proximity to the most escort quests. Basara has most likely considered this, but wanted to toss out New Haven as an idea.

you can't gain in compasion from new haven quests anymore,due to the fact it was too easy to gain compasion there.I think they wanted us to o a little "work" in order to be a knight in any of the virtues.

Good to know. It takes no significant work to get Knighthood in Valor, but Honor takes some time as does Sacrifice to some extent. Look forward to working toward Knighthood in Compassion.
