Am I ready?

So...as some of you may know, I made a character under the KR client. I did this because it is the only way to battle the Dark Knight found in New Haven. If your playing the 2d client he is that giant looking dude dressed in black. Well, I have been skilling up my bushido/paladin and I was wondering what ya'll think. Do you suppose I'm ready to take him on? Keep in mind that there is a bug that if I fail, there is a good chance that my rune gets screwed up and I can't go against him again. So...it is a possibility that I only get one shot at it. I was comparing his stats to an ogre lord. So, in my mind if I can kill an ogre lord, maybe I can kill him? Here are the stats of the Dark Knight and an Ogre Lord.

So...do you think I'm ready to go against him? Or do you think I should train up a bit more?

swap your 100% physical damage sword for a soul seeker if you can. SS is 100% cold damage/respond slayer. You'll be hitting him at his lowest resist each time, plus you get stamina/mana/life leech chances each hit.

couple of pots for healing to back up your aids, add a strength potion or two, like black sun said, swap that sword for the soulseeker and go nuts.

Word of caution... if you plan to go after the dark knight.... you may want to make sure you can sacred journey 100% of the time. Either that or your training for going after the dark knight will be all for not.

Also... make sure you have both the token of passage and the rune to get to said dark knight in your pack.

...hmm. I'll have to upgrade to mondain's legacy to do that. But I am getting annoyed at not being able to go to the Tokono lands.

I just went against an ogre lord, and he beat the crap outta' me. I think I need to keep working on it. My thinking is that...the ogre lord seems stronger than the knight. So, if I can handle the ogre lord, then I should be able to handle the knight.

If I don't upgrade to ML, what do you think is the best ilsh/doom swordsmanship artie I should use?

[All this info is based on the data for fighting an orge lord, so it may not be exact when it comes to the fight with the Dark Knight.]

Upon closer look at your skills, and running some numbers though the stratics damage calculator, using your current setup with a soulseeker with consecrate weapon cast, you're looking about about 20-33 hits to kill him.

You'd be hitting him for about 25-33hp each hit, and he'd be getting you for about 29-39hp each hit.

It's going to be a touch match. But you might squeek by. Healing is going to be your main issue. At your current level with 0 interruptions you'll heal about 25-42 hp per bandage. It will take 5 seconds for you to apply each bandage (uninterrupted).

Hmmm. Thank you for punching those numbers Black Sun. I will go ahead and upgrade to ML so that I can use the soul seeker. I just wish that I could get that stupid bandage self macro to work. But I'll just keep my backpack open and double click stacks.

I should also hit 125 dex today. Any remaining points will go into str. The best way that I have heard to build str is by chopping trees. Any faster method to raising str?

Personally I use mining to raise strength, but I suppose lumber jacking would work just as well.

Also, if you upgrade to ML so you can use the SS, I have an extra one you can have.

My advice: First off go to New Haven and bring resist spells up to 70. Get your strength up to 80. Use enemy of one and consecrate weapon. Watch your health bar and heal frequently. Use a holy sword and a conjurers trinket with the virtue armor and you should be fine. The dark knight moves around a lot especially if you are beating him so you may have to keep moving to find him. Hopefully you have been working the Honor virtue up. If you have, remember to honor him before attacking. Str pot and purple petal and orange petal before engaging. Enemy of One immediately after honor then use an occasional Consecrate, but mostly stick to chaining Lightning Strike and Confidence if you can get some space between him and you. Bushido spells won't suck up your mana as bad. I'm not sure if you can manage to use an arch protection scroll but it will help in not fizzling your save spells.

If you have a katana with good mana/life leach even if the DMI/SSI is low, I'd go with that. I'd let your jewlery take care of DMI and it would help if you could find pieces to increase your HCI and bushido/healing because at your mana level, you'll want to rely mostly on bandies and confidence to heal.

I think you can do it but it may be tight.

I do have a holy sword Seth, but it is slow as heck. And I would have to drop something if I went with spell resist.

Beleg, I have a bracelet with 15% hci, and I have a ring with 15% hci. And good tip with the petals. I forget what the purple ones do though. The healing potions would be nice, but the cool down between being able to use them is horrible. I'm wondering if he uses a dismount attack? I may want to bring a charger just in case, that way he can't kill my mount.

Purple petals are a str boost that stacks with str pots. Your HCI will be a big help. I doubt he can dismount, but I'm a 2d guy so I have never fought him. Heal pots will be a help. If ya do upgrade to ML and use the Soul Seeker, that gives ya 3 mana-less ways to regain health (bandies, life leech, pots). Confidence in the cool down, Close Wounds in emergency and you are good to go.

Well, I went to buy the upgrade...and though my account is like 6 months old...I used a "free month of play" code on my last payment. STUPID ea is screwed up and when I went to buy it, I was given the message that my account was too young to purchase that item. I'll have to go with traditional britannian weapons/armor and no tallisman.

So...I'm also back to trying to figure a good sword to use that is possibly a ilsh/doom artie, or a very skilled crafted sword. I don't know of the mods on the invasion swords.

But I will go searching for a vendor selling purple petals and orange ones.

I have killed the Dark Knight several times now each time using a holy sword and conjurers trinket. Seems to work pretty good because they are undead slayers and the Dark Knight (I believe) is an undead creature. Using those 2 things with enemy of one causes massive damage. Quickest kill for me was about 30 seconds and longest (because of chasing him around) was about a minute and a half.
The one time I died was when i had no resist spells on my character and the Dark Knight used weaken on me. My strength wasn't high enough and one of my virtue armor pieces dropped into my backpack because I wasn't strong enough to equip it. Then it was all over...

Oh and btw he can dismount, happened a few times to me now.

I think you should post it there friend. And thanks for the advice on the holy sword. I can't get ML yet, so no trinket for me, but I do have that sword. Of coarse, if I can find a katana that is an undead slayer, then I'm sure that will help me. What counters the weaken spell? Is it "strength" or is it the paladin spell of remove curse?

I always make sure i have my strength at 80 and i get my resist spells to 70 to be on the safe side...

When I last killed the Dark Knight, here's what I had

Other skills: a little bit less
Armor: Legendary Tailor Crafted
Weapon: Not sure if I used night's kiss or a non runic crafted kryss
Jewelry: none

Results: It took a while, but the fight was no trouble at all. I imagine I could cut 20 points off of my fencing skill and still win.

Depends on your template....but I can loan you the stuff to kill him. I got a 70's LRC suit and a really fast undead diamond UBWS mace that I aint using.

You make it sound a bit easy Farsight. I use swordsmanship and I'm around 73.0 in skill with it.

DPudding, I have the virtue set, which gives me 70 resist in every catagory, but thank you kindly. ^.^

Right now I'm trying to find a undead slayer Katana. It seems that people don't sell them anymore. =-(

The first time you defeat him you will be rewarded with one of three items.

1. The skill tutor statuette reward: When you are training ia skill the statue if how you are training is too easy, easy, optimal, very challenging or too challenging to help you find the best way to work up a skill.
2. The Echo Staff: I have heard casts chain lightning but has limited uses.
3. Ring of the Servant: Raises your stats for a short period of time

I have never fought the Dark Knight myself so I don't much more about these items though.

The character has to be made with KR, and personally i don't think its worth the effort, now a nice human slave would be awesome pet, But no we have to follow NCC guide lines on a game that was originally rated M for blood and gore.

Id say just buy some greater explosion, conflag, confushion blasts at the Zento corner market near Calina, and try you luck with some real fire power hehe

Hi, Scarst. You can download from Fileplanet. Its free to register and you can download KR for FREE after you register. I, too, thought I had to pay for an account there, not true. Just do the free registration and then you can do the KR download.

Yes, as of now the only way to face the Dark Knight is to create a character under the Kingdom Reborn game client. This gives you both a rune and a token of "passage" that allows you to fight the knight.

And, you can always buy a 7th character slot. Heck, ya know you will eventually anyway. ER...unless the KR client includes one?

Well, anyway the rarest of the rewards is the statue. And there are two of them on display in Luna as of now. One to the first shop to the West of Luna bank (on the right) and the other at Tropicana's house (to the south).

Well...after you read the notes you'll understand my concern. I hope I don't fail. Hey... here is a newb question: If I walk through a potion of greater conflagration in Trammel, that I throw, will I take damage? If not, then I may take a couple with me.

No insult taken. I have the KR client, but never had a extra open slot to start a new character just so I could face the Dark Knight. Plus I hate even trying to use the KR client because its such a huge pain so I play 99.9% of the time in 2D.

Well, to answer the title of the post...yes I was.

For some reason I could not use a teleport scroll or Sacred Journey anywhere near the Black Knight. I ran a bit North-West and then used sacred journey on the special rune I was given.

It instantly sucked me into a disheveled looking um. "Hallway/lobby" area. A door opened I saw a blue spark heading tword me. Suddenly I was in a long hall facing the Dark Knight.

He kept instantly teleporting backwards so, I had to keep chasing him. The battle lasted about 20 seconds or so. He seemed more on the defense than offense though. It was a bit odd. Not like the normal fight of a UO monster. The moment I hit him for the fatal blow I was instantly teleported to the top of a spire in New Haven. I'm sure many of you have seen it. And to my surprise, I even nabbed the most rare of the three rewards.

I had bumped into Robert Pen Dragon and asked him to watch. But the entire instance was underground. So I doubt he saw a thing.

However, I'm so glad to be done with KR now. It is horrible. It lags unbelievable, things um..."stick" to much and for no explainable reason, quite often out of no where macros simply stop working.

I'll give credit where credit is due though...Most of the monsters in KR do look much better. Especially the lizard men.
