Few questions

Hello, i require some help getting used to SP.
The thing is, that i used to play alot of UO on free shards with no skill cap and "fs,fs,fs,lightning" type pvp, with 90% of game not working proper and tonns of lame custom scripts. But thats just to introduce myself.

So there go my questions:

1. Need help figuring out a simple and fairly easy to raise template for pvm\pvp, skills, stats, etc; my guess is that i will need to start hunting first, to get some gold and items, b4 i can go take part in pvping.
2. Where exactly do i start. I go and sign up for this NEW guild and bug ppl with locations and game mechanics questions on their local forum, or its not a must?
3. Are there any free programms to assist me? Since macroing is illegal on SP, is it?

Thanks alot for answering questions above. I know that answers are somewhere out there @ forums, but after digging for few hours i figured i'll just ask directly. Anyway i will have to read all info on UO stratics has to give.

Thanks again.

Uoassist is one of a few programs that are not illegal.

First off, welcome to Siege.

As for your first question, it depends on what kind of template you're going with. Are you going to be a Warrior, Tamer, Mage? As well as which way you are leaning toward how much pvp you want to engage in. If you join NEW, you will probably get a 100% LRC (lower regent cost) suit for training. Which means you can sit there and cast without having to use regents while you work up your skills.

However, if you're a warrior, just work your way up hunting lower monsters. This will give you a chance to get familiar with the layout, run into some people, and get the hang of things again.

Back to NEW. I'm sure you will be able to contact them fairly easily and once you get in there you will be able to fire away with all your questions. There is a pretty big difference from where you're coming from and UO today. On top of that, you will get attacked less from the rest of the population that roams the shard, since they can recognize your 'newness'.

If you haven't already, check out the information stickied on the top of this forum. Understanding RoT will definitely help you stick around.

figured i will go with mage\parry template with fencing
70\80\100 stats

not sure if i will be able to do alot of pvm with it.

also applied for registration @ NEW guild's forums. waiting for approval.
if someone is willing to hook me up with some LRC suit and maby some runes to low->med mobs spawns - it would be supergood. My nick ingame is Griboedov, usually playing after 17-00 CET

Also, have another question: seen few guys with quivers behind their backs, shields and spellbooks - are those archery-mages or something? or quiver is just an item they use only for stats\resists bonuses?

if i get it correctly there are some items "mage armor" - sorta special items that allow meditation and dont drop to backpack when casting spells?

Thanks

You might want to send an ICQ to one of the NEW leaders as well, you might get a response faster. I believe they get alot of spam to their registration site. NEW will be a big help to you, there were to me when I came back to the game after 5 years and had no clue what was happening.

Quivers are used for the Damage increase and stats mostly. Spellbooks have various mods, some are blessed from the invasion spawn, others are Scrappers Compendiums that have various mods.

Yes to mage armor. Most leather armor is medable, other non-med armors can have the "mage armor" attribute that allows meditation.

Thank you all for replying my post.

Heres another question: training dummy, i have 52% fencing, so obviously my skill wont grow from hitting on dummy, but will my stats raise?
- or should i use wrestling to raise them up? i have it locked atm, does it matter at all?

Thanks again.

I THINK you can only gain stats if you gain a skill - so you must gain skill to gain stats.

I THOUGHT one could gain stats from merely using a skill. don't quote me tho!
