I'm just trying to catch up on things in UO.

I started on GL back at launch, then played Napa for years during Renessaince, I then joined AOL Legends during Blackthorn's revenge and I tried the new KR client about a year ago.

I never was able to find anyone to group with in the old lands and honestly do not know how to find the new areas.

I was wondering if Fishing is even worth doing anymore? My greatest time was fishing up MiBs and Nets in the main land. Back when items were Ruin, Vanquishing..etc. Last I saw the main land was pretty abandoned and placing a large structure was quite easy compared to before where a small house deed placement was expensive.

Do you all still play or just associate on stratics? I remember some names from before but really had to guild or groups on Legends to speak of.

I guess i want to know if I should retry the fishing, and should I see about transferring to a new server?

All I could sell last time was pearls and special nets. It's really hard to get anything new done solo with the standard equipment from 1998. I don't know much about the new stuff.

Welcome home, dont know too much about fishing as I soulstoned mine till they do something with it as for equipment we have some really good people on the shard who can help you with that as can I and again welcome back

Fishing is still alive and well, but must admit it is not one of the more rewarding professions.

I've seen MiBs selling for about 1000gp and plain nets for 5000gp. White Pearls (crafting ingrediant introduced in the ML expansion) are very erraticly priced ... I've seen 10k to 50k but haven't been buying or selling. White nets still command a few hundred thousand gold, but it's been a long time since I've seen a ghost anchor or seahorse for sale (I've never gotten either, but haven't faced a leviathan in ages - my new fisherman is unfortunately not built to handle that fight).

As for socializing, I myself am mostly a loner in game, but if you know where to look I'm always open to a chat (oops - except I won't be on tonight unless its very late). But there are sometimes guild recruiters in New Haven - there are a variety of groups with different playstyles out there, although you may not always find it easy to find them.

There are lots of good places for housing - we've dropped to the point where there are open fields in Malas for 18x18s, so unless you're looking to place a castle, house placement is about finding a nice neighbourhood rather than trying to max out your storage.

Welcome back! We do have a fisher, but as stated previously, the pearls and nets are about the only thing really proffitable atm.

As for needing gear, updated equiptment etc, there are plenty of friendly folks on Legends more than willing to help returning players I can point you in the direction of several nice house locations open, some in Malas, some in Trammel. Give a holler to any T*T, T*Tb, T*Tr member, and tell them Darri sent ya! They'll be glad to help.

You might also try a TMC guild member, they're a wonderful group of adult players, that do a huge variety of things ingame, weekly group hunts, peerless, social, you name it. I'm sure one of them could point you to Damia, the guildmistress

Thanks for the information. Where would I look for these members? Trammel seemed pretty barren.

My ICQ is 3769690 if anyone would like to group up and do something fun. If not, I will just be fishing and looking for a place to set up a building and vendors.

I do not need items or cash, I seem to have a little nest egg left over from before. I could use some advice on placing a structure though, since I do not know where people like to shop. All of my vendor runes I have marked are no longer there.

So far so good. I'm keeping myself entertained.

I can see why some who return might shy away quickly however because the current atmosphere is not welcome to new people. The prices are outrageous on most things and without anyone offering to group with new people and the ability to solo without the decent weapons I think most would just quit, or devote their time to crafting like I did.

I did manage to place a 18 X 18 outside of Luna, and am going to try and stock items that used to sell the last time I came back. (Potion kegs, pearls, nets, MiBs, Recalls, reagents..) stuff that isn't too difficult to come by. My goal for now is to break even and attempt some more solo content. I have yet to explore anywhere but the main lands and the safe areas in Luna and am working on my swordsman to do that.

I will try to participate in some events and meet some folks after a week or so of stocking up and increasing skill.

If anyone has a need for anything a GM Tinker, Carp, Fisher, Tailor, Smith can provide, please let me know and I will start gathering that too.

I'm enjoying myself a lot in game. I've tried just about every popular MMO out there currently and really had my hopes up for Darkfall, but it isn't UO.

I would find myself launching an emulator to play Ultima 5 at times and I figured I would reactivate and get myself up to speed again hoping the SA expansion would bring some population back.

Lately, I have seen several people roaming around Britian. Legends seems to be on the low end of totem when it comes to population, but I always preferred the crowd here. My experience was mainly during the AOL Legends days and the LBR expansion.

I fished up around 20 SOSs yesterday, 2 being ancient and received absolutely nothing worth mentioning. I hope they give a little incentive to fishing in the near future as that is what I prefer to do.

Imbuing looks promising, but the stats will not compare to magic items and will make your item unable to be fortified. It would seem they are trying to make weapons break again.

Unfilled works for me. Someone was generous enough to get me a fire beetle to mine with. I don't think I can accept any more freebies as it will eliminate any motivation to achieve anything in this game. It's fun to actually have to work for stuff.
