How does this effect "your" gameplay?
And don't say it ruins the economy. The economy in UO is long gone
I'm going to assume that wasn't rhetorical and actually give you an answer here;
I hate botters. I don't care if the dude is attended, but it irks me that I sit here and spend my admittedly worthless time mining to get the ingots to fill a bod while this guy is asleep or working or boozing it up somewhere or something. How does it effect my gameplay? Lemme break it down
Watch out now! Hoo-ha!
What is money? A representation of your efforts in a trade used when bartering so that two people may exchange services without needing eachother's specific services. For instance, I can buy shoes from someone, even if they don't need tech support because someone else has paid me for that service.
More accurately, its
time invested in a particular labor, as most people are paid based on productivity or how long they work.
So time is money, and money is time. Money is a representation of my time that I waste doing things I don't want to do.
So when I see this guy over here who's making game money without any time investment, it looks to me about like someone making counterfeit money.
Furthermore!
You'll see in that picture, directly beside his drop box, there's an ingot vendor. Do you suppose that those are ingots he mines legitimately in his free time and he gives the botted ones to newbies? No sir! He is botting while off doing something completely unrelated, and then selling his ingots so that he doesn't have to waste his time farming when he wants to play. Not only that, but it makes it so that anyone who wants to make a legitimate living off of mining now has to lower their prices to compete with someone who's time literally has NO value to them because they're not actually spending it making the cash, they're doing something completely unrelated. This hurts normal gamers.
Tell Mr Cobra up there to sit at his keyboard and waste his time while his guys mine, and I don't give a flying pig's fart if he's botting or doing it by hand because now what he's doing has value to him.
I hope that will help explain to you exactly how and why it pisses me off when people macro unattended.
