Some plans to save troubles when trading

We must exchange items with many bank checks when trading in these days.

It is very troublesome to have to count many bank checks and to examnine them one by one.

There are also some bad players who schemes frauds while trading.

So I'd like to offer a few plans to improve these circumstances.

(1) The idealest plan: to display the total amount value of bank checks in containers on a trade window or on a specific window for it.

(2) A compromised plan: to introduce a bank bag.

You can see the total amount value of all the bank cheks in it, with your mouse on it.

A bank bag is necessary for players to trade items with bank checks smoothly each other.

This bag would save such troubles as we must count too many bank checks examining one by one, and would prevent bad players from scheming a fraud with bank checks in trade.

This bag can contain only bank checks in it. Bankers sell bank bags.

New arts are not necessary, as the art of ordinary bags will do it. It would be much better for distinction, if the bank bag is dyed with a bright color like a salvage bag.

(3) A safe plan: to introduce an identifying wand that can identify the total amount value of bank checks in a container.

(*) I know that items in containers can be displayed in a listed view or in an inventory view on KR. But I'd like to offer these plans for players who play only with 2D client.

(4) Safe plan + gold sink: Banker leases a "bag" for 10K to seller who targets the buyer. A gump like the trade window opens ... checks and goods drop into respective windows with the checks tallying as they are added to the window.

When both agree, finalize just like the trade window - gump disappears, players get their respective goodies. Banker has 10K more in his/her coffers.

Each and every high-price/cost sale will drain 10K from the seller. 10K shouldn't be bad especially if the sale is 100+ million. A pittance.

Or allow checks for amounts greater than 1 mil. Maybe 10 mil max per check.

The economy is broken already, and having hundreds of millions of gold in your bank means you have to sort through and count too many checks. Just make it possible to get checks in any amount (maybe cap it at a billion?)

There are items in game selling for 200+ million gold. What a pain to have to count and examine 200 checks.

agreed.

I know we have vendors for most items but for house purchases and such that simply doesn't work.

I always liked the semi-realistic bit of this game. Counting checks and checking values requires research and some actual work. The fact that you may get ripped off made you verify everything. You want an easy button?

they should do away with checks altogether. The bank should contain items only and a value of gold, not in piles. When you do a trade window, there should be the option to enter a value of gold, so you can enter say 150,000,000 in the trade window. Currently, you have no way to trade over 125m due to item count constraints. When you drop gold into the bank, the pile should disappear and the amount displayed should be increased. This is the best option IMHO.

They don't want to do this because then it becomes 10x easier to dupe gold (or however many X you increase check size to).

The best solution (I believe) would be to abolish the check system entirely. Make a bank account for each character which is just a number. Every time you drop gold coins into the bank it is added to your bank account. You can always withdraw gold coins, but can no longer make checks. A new option in the player transaction window allows you to type in the gold amount you wish to transfer for the goods.

It would still be possible to dupe gold but only in tiny amounts. And there would no longer be any limits on gold transactions or having to deal with dozens or hundreds of checks. This method also does not take away from the "UO realism" like other games which you never possess and money at all, it goes right to your account when killed. You still have to take all your gold to the bank to deposit it.

I have to agree...this is a great idea! This is sort of how it worked in the beginning too. You handed your gold to the banker, and when you wanted to withdraw gold, it just it to you...no checks.

I like it.

I like this, but I would rather it be all gold for chars on a shard. Otherwise it would be a real pain transfering gold to another char.
