I saw this post on the Baja forum:

I didn't know the EM's were allowed to have public space, or post on public boards. Does anyone else know anything about if they can or not, would be a great way to find out about upcoming em events while not being able to log in.

By how it was explained to me is this...
EM are not allowed to have dialogue with players through forums.

They can be interviewed by reporters, and they can have web sites too make announcements. But no direct forum interactions.

Seems to me Origin has a web site for those that want to request wedding services or some such thing!

Since Dixie keeps refusing to marry anyone 3 times her age I doubt I will need those services anytime soon!


Or maybe it is just cause I am a mean old *******....eh Beleg?

Anyhoo, why wouldn't an EM be allowed to give and get feedback from the people he or she makes events for? Devs talk to us... Seems anti-intuitive for there to be a no interaction rule.

I think that rule stems from the issues with EM favoritism in the past. They don't want EMs getting too comfortable or friendly with just one set of individuals, or, on that same token, becoming hostel with a set of people and purposefully barring them from events.

The people who are EMs are not allowed to post on Forums at all. I know this to be a fact from talking to our EMs. I didn't dig to far into this but I think it has to do with keeping who the EMs are secret. If the real identities were know those people would be swamped with requests for special favors. That and the EMs could be harassed for not giving a player a prize or running a event a player liked. Throw in jealous players accusing them of cheating with their EM powers and you can see why they have to remain private.

You got to remember that the Stratics staff is made up of players just like you. So we can not know who the EMs are either and by using these forums the EMs run a chance of their true identities being found out. There for they are not allowed to post here under their EM names. Also any EM who lets it slip that they are an EM can be removed from the program, and thats something they don't want nor do we.

However they can make their own webpage for the shard they EM on because they control it. Players will not know who they are and their idenities are safe.

Sure I'll marry someone as old and crotchety as you. But I demand payment in the form of a dowry. Hugging my piles of gold is the only thing that will make me feel better about selling my soul to the devil!
