So I found out, that there are these artifacts and UOGuide says (http://www.uoguide.com/Artifacts_(Virtue)):

They are obtained by slaying monsters. Having killed enough creatures, a random item will be placed directly into your backpack with the following system message:

So I just go to i.e. Despise and start killing Lizardmen in there? What's their drop rate? Because a friend of mine uses to train there now for a while and he hasn't gotten one so far.

And are virtue armor parts linked to their anti-virtue-dungeons or do they drop completely random?

you should vary what you kill kill ettins ,titans ogrelords,etc
what i do is kill 20 or so ogre lords then go kill ettins for a while and switch back and forth

Just kill everything you find in your path. Armor pieces are random.

Few hours ago, I found five pieces of this set on a vendor in Luna, each piece for 10k. That was a price, even I could afford. Right now I wanted to buy them, but all have been bought by someone else. I'm currently pretty mad about me :-/

monster's fame makes a different in the drop rate.

for your information
I kill earth element in trammel Dungeon Shame.
sometimes i get a artifact after 250 kills, but most of the time i will have to kill 500 or more earth elementals before i get 1 artifact dropped.

tactics that many use are to beat the crud out of as many high fame critters as possible, then head for Despise, Shame or other easy ones and take them all out as fast as you can. Typically you can get a drop fairly fast that way.

I used to solo Destard level 1 (before Greaters happened), then pop into Despise, rinse and repeat once or twice and usually an armor piece would pop. I didn't even collect the gold and stuff ... just kill, kill, kill.

BTW, the cloak can be dyed, however the coloring disappears when it is worn with the entire set. Take some piece off (break the worn set), and the color comes back. <shrug> A small UO tidbit for the day.
