Real skill

I've noticed that taming, real skill, is much more powerfull that the same skill with jewels.
I mean, i have a tamer with 120 taming real and other tamers, on the same shard, with 120 with jewels. The one who has the real skill can tame better then the others, easier and with less chances of falilure.
I'm sure of this. I've been playing in 3 different shards and it's the same in every shard. The tamer that has much real skill is advantaged
Now i ask to me.... if there is true for taming, also fot other skills is much better having real skill?? Jewels are only "smoke on the eyes"?
I'm a little depressed :(

I have 2 tamers, one with 120 real taming skill and the other with 105 and use jewels for tamin, I see no difference at all, so i lock taming at 105 and use the extra skill points somewhere else..

I've had several 120 tamers as well. I don't really notice a difference aside from the convenience of having open jewel slots.

Ivory, just off the top of my head, the only skill I can think of that definitely gives an advantage to real skill versus skill attained by using items is Spirit Speak. I'm pretty sure you can only see and talk to ghosts with at least 100 real Spirit Speak skill.

There could be other skills that offer a similar "bonus" to real skill, but I can't think of any.

P.S. After I posted the above, I remembered reading someone's post a while ago saying that the quality of the mods on spell books a scribe makes are based on the scribe's real magery skill. Can't quite remember where I saw that posted and can't tell you for sure how accurate of a comment it is.

Ivory, what are the stats (i.e., strength, dex, and intelligence) for the tamer character that seems to have the easiest time with the taming, as compared to the other tamer characters? Just curious to see if there's a significant difference there. I haven't seen anything posted that verifies that any one statistic is a factor for taming success, but I have a theory that Strength comes into play somehow.
