Enough Already

Well, this morning I tried to creat a new character on Siege. Big mistake! My character maybe lasted 20 seconds. This was not due to the action of pk's, this was due to this faction war that has gone on way to long. Imagine a newb suddenly thrust into the middle of several dragons (and a wyvern I think) as well as a gaggle of faction soldiers/scouts.
Being as to this being Siege I had zero options as to where this character was created.
So now I have a nothing newb (with nothing) that I must wait a week to delete before I can try again. Hasn't this faction war drug on long enough? How much longer we gonna have to beat a dead horse (or in this case a dead newb)?

You have nothing? Gee, how tough would it be to rez, then go wrestle some mongbats in Moonglow to get gold. You should be up and running with at least 1000 gold in a little while.

Why do you feel you must wait a week and then delete the char?

Is it because you lost the stuff you started with? If so, just go to Zento and start killing rats and you will have your gold back in no time. And then kill some more rats to get gold to replace the items you lost.

If you want to we can meet up and I can give you a barbed suit so you´ll have some protection when doing some stuff...

As for the faction event... maybe it has been going on for too long. I don´t really mind though...

I thought of that Rico, but since Moonglow was infested with hatreds and abyss critters decided not today. Checked Skara also, it was infested with elementals etc. So being oh for three, I decided to wait for another day.

So which wonderous faction city did you get thrown into ?

Yes this scenario whatever has drug on since what Halloween, post Halloween ? Lots of us tire of it especially if our homes are near those cities or too near cuz we get some of that spawn too at times. Ah well.

Anyhow, it would be silly to delete the chr. just go walking dead or alive thru moongates to another city( preferably not a faction town for now ). . and we do have NEW guild on Siege for those whom are new immigrants arriving there. They too can help ya with news and info. & etc.

If you just post on Siege forum there may be many folks willing and able to help a new arrival. Since your chr. is newly made I assume it is still blue so, any wandering healer will res your chr. and or many a home on Siege is acquiring the Ankhs of Sacrafice that res anyone and those homes are public for most part for any one to access to get a res.

I think kelmo still has his *youth hostel* off the East Umbra Bridge home wide open too, to new immigrants...no faction spawn there either.

Last time I was in Skara Brae it was full of elementals and a *blindman* was slaying the elementals...so if a Blind Otto can function in a mess of spawn...hehe...........well just avoid faction towns for now and you will do fine anywhere else that is a NON faction town...or just walk up to someone's sherry the mouse statue in many a siege porch and shout 'NEWS' and she will tell you which towns to avoid so will the town criers IF they are working.

But ya have Umbra Luna Zento and other cities not involved with this long endless tale of monsters spawning randomly all over parts or all of a faction city town, depending upon which faction has achieved what in which faction town.

Could be worse.......one could make an insta auto pali template on Siege where there is no HAVEN and land in Ocllo...no moongate OFF ! I have gated many off of that isle whom came to Siege making that auto pali template which tosses em all into our...*lack of Haven* Ocllo.

When I started Siege.

I said "Hi im new. Any help would be appreciated"
Someone gave me 50k and an bunch of items.

Whats the big deal. Spend a day begging.

Yes, see the NEW books that are locked down at Luna, Jhelom bank and other places. NEW are the Siege equivalent of Counsellors and have been helping newcomers to the shard for over nine years now. You can join for your first month or so on the shard and will be given advice, basic equipment and use of the guild keep.

I found this post incredibly funny, but also quite insightful. The funny thing about it is that on the production shards there is such a sense of entitlement that the idea of wrestling a rat or a mongbat is so beneath most players.

On the flip side if taken in the right light, you'd have a chance to literally come up from the gutter and with hard work, make something of your character.

pretty profound if you ask me. And yes I play a production shard and would be considered a trammy. However Rico's post makes me want to get busy with the mother loving rats.

I think most of you (perhaps intentionally) are ignoring the OP's real point.

Most of the "fighting events" have gone on for a long time, feel rather pointless, and most of them are too much for many shard's active populations to keep on top of. I know that on my shard, an invaded town only gets cleared during a peaktime.... maybe a Friday night or Saturday. Other than that, if your non-combat char was logged at the Vesper bank or something and it's invaded... pfft. Monster says Lawl.

I never thought these stupid in-town events were a good idea. All they've done is pack everyone ever more tightly into Luna and punished people who've tried to keep using the old cities. That's the only real effect of them. Story? lol. Is anyone even paying attention?

The devs say all this town attack stuff is a lead up to whatever storyline launches SA. We get the point already, end the stupid events.

Most of us played while we trained as opposed to powergaming to get to GM in a week. It's one of the things that makes Siege so unique. Once a character has been completed, there is a sense of accomplishment that those on the production shards just don't understand...la

When it goes on for weeks on end into mos. all it does is often kill the old world towns and no one then ever returns to them cuz the old world towns are always picked to be destroyed and maybe never rebuilt or left alone for long. *Magincia* ...........Brit is oft a ghosttown on any shard Minoc Vesper Moonglow Moonglow hit repeatedly too with one thing or another ...then ANOTHER. . till folks just tire of it all and traverse towns not in the messes that drag on too long, avoiding many an old world town.

I tire of Cowardices and so forth in my BRIT LAWN on Siege. I miss seeing Gwendar all over ...remember the post ...can't craft where Gwendar was used to crafting cuz...monsters all over post on Siege ? I often cut wood downtown..EAST BRIT won't see me there since this mess all started.

Then there is Sebrina's post Chessie....tiring of varmits and critters all over his homes in Moonglow...heck I had a home there too..MOVED it had the last rift and stuff ruining downtown Moonglow ...ending the annual Moonglow Spring Festivals there........

The only things of any real value you start with are the skills you pick. Nothing can steal or loot those, so in effect you lost nothing. Everything else can, and will, be replaced by the players on the shard. Walk up to almost any character and say 'hi, I just got here' and you'll find help, advice and guidance.
Of course there is the odd one who'll kill you anyway just for the 'fun' of it. Some people have a weird idea of what's fun.

Heya, you will lose a lot more than 1k gold playing Siege regularly. I wouldn't sweat it, just get out there and start working on your skills and save up a bit at a time. Resources sell, and you don't need any skill to pick cotton or shear sheep. You only need .1 in smithing or tailoring to get a junk bod, you can collect those and sell to crafters. And of course, mongbat wrestling is always an option.

Hah, I used to go picking up regs off the ground as a newbie. And then when I'd get quite a few I would go bank my precious stash. I also had barding to start with, even tho you couldn't provoke anything smarter than an ogre lord, but it was a decent way to make money without spending any (regs or armor/weapons).

Pfft, I still do that. There are few spots on the shard that have great areas of spawning regs. I can gate in and out in 3 or 4 minutes and leave with 30 of each reg...la

My first week on siege, I was given co-ownership to a luna house. Along with co ownership, they re-designed their house so I had a (Hut) on the first floor, along with 4 secure boxes. Then, they took me to a different house, and gave me more alacrity scrolls than I knew what to do with. I still have a screenshot of their floor on my old computer, with me saying HOLY ALACRITY SCROLLS BATMAN! Siege is the friendliest community of players ever, with perhaps the only competition being Legends, whom thrust millions of gold upon me when I started. That and Omnicron giving me halloween Candy .

Siege is good.

I may play on production shards, but I've trained all my skills from 0 on up, minus those my chars started with. I don't buy skills, golem train or anything like that. I physically go work the skills in dungeons or at champs. And I don't macro afk or use 3rd party programs for training etc.

It took me a year and a half to get my warrior to where I wanted her. My poor tailor's been in the works for over two years, still only 115ish. My tamers... eesh. I work them in moderation or I'd lose my mind completely. Basically, I get a skill where I want it and I cheer, cause I'm just that lame.

So, yeah, some of us on production shards understand the sense of accomplishment that comes from a completed char.


And to the OP: I've suffered the same fate... twice. Don't let it bother you
