Gaining for Detect Hidden (detective forum is dead)

I know this isn't the right forum. But goodness the Detective Forum is quite dead. Considering it's a forum for almost all the dead skills.

Anyways. Anyone got a trick for gaining this skill a little faster then current?
I've tried detecting faction traps, except no one is placing them anymore since all that silver is going towards these new items.

make a tinker with carpentry.

trap a box at 40 tinkering skill
then another at 60 tinkering skill
then another at 80 tinkering skill
and finally one at GM tinkering skill.

then just toggle your skill and hit the chest closest to your detect level.

Go to vesper and go to the trapped boxes in the bank and just detect hidden those.

You can place them yourself (the faction traps)
Go to a city your faction owns and place the max somewhere. Every time you detect you have a chance of gaining on each and every trap so you can gain multiple times.
Goes up really really fast.

Thanks for the input. So it seems I am doing it right it seems. Just sooo slow compared to how easy it use to be to GM

I don't have any tinkering so I will just try to find someone who can make me a GM trapped box. Meantime I am dungeon crawling with stealth to gain.

If anyone is on sonoma who can make me a trapped box that would be great

I used a Gypsy camp spawned barrel until about 90ish, then used a GM Tinker trapped box. It took a few days, and at times was slow going, but it did work for me ~ about a month ago.

So off to get me a GM trapped box. Doesn't make a difference between what kind of trap I assume, aye?

I go to the basement of that Tavern by Spirituality. I just use detect on the trapped crates down there. I created a backspace macro 1. Use Detect 2. Last Target. It's monotonous, but I have it up on my other computer while I'm working, writing, or browsing the web/UO Forums. It's just a matter of hitting the backspace key on the other keyboard every so often.

Well, any character in the faction can place them, so maybe you can get someone to make some for you or pay someone in silver for it?
Just a thought. 15 traps placed is 15 chances to gain with each detect.

you dont need to be GM to make faction traps.

its just that they have high pre-requs to make them, so youll fail a lot is all.
so if you dont mind loosing iron and bolts or nox or ex pots then its not a issue.

Eh, I think it might be a little more productive for me to just work with what I have instead of hoping to get enough traps to gain. Unless people actually decide to try and protect their bases.

But I found someone to trap some boxes for me quite quickly
