Anyone around in the evening EST?

I've been told I should look here for iteresting roleplaying, but, being the European server, its always down near the middle of the population list in the evenings here in EST. I am wondering: is it worth my while to check this server out, or will I find it a ghost town?

I cant talk for the RP community but there is allways ppl around when i logon to europe.
Doesnt matter if its early in the morning or in the middle of the night.

Most RP happens in our evenings/EST afternoon, of course - you will be hard tried to find anyone up at EST evenings on a regular basis.

Fair enough. One other question: any roleplayers still hang around felucca? the faction system seems interesting to me, but not if its basicly nothing more than a big game of counterstrike. Oh for the good old days when the big PvP events was dominated by (more or less) roleplaying guilds!

Maddy always used to be about when no one else was, although I'm not sure of her time zone.
RP tends to peak a little after 8pm GMT (3pm EST), and then generally trails off slowly through the night. Sometimes this is ages... Like, there are times I've had to break off RP for server-down (5am GMT / midnight EST), but I think midnight is a general latest for heavy activity (7pm EST).

A final correlary question - having spent a couple of days here, I find that I have a significant lag time and that the game easilly gets choppy. A 130 ping doesn't seem like it should be doing that, but its damn sure not on my end (I have a VERY good internet connection,a nd god knows I pay for it). Is that getting that sort of ruberbanding once evrery ten seconds or so NORMAL for a non-European player? I find this especially strange since I don't seem to have the same problems on other servers with similar ping, such as Drachenfalls.

most probably your tracert will show a high ping every now and then on the last alter.net hop before the ea servers. Seems a lot of people have this problem atm.

O...K. Lets assume i know just barely enough about computers to use them without burning down my home and that I have no idea what a Tracert, a hop, or Alter.net are. Whats wrong exactly?

basically this means that between your computer and ea there is a bottleneck where none should be And the bottleneck is a server which is operated by a company named alter.net. The exact problem with that server can unfortunately only be determined by them. There are a number of possible reasons that can lead to such problems. Might be capacitiy problems, hardware problems, setup problems....

Well, capacity problems would be nice! But I take it that this is a temporary (or at least, recent) phenominon from the way you were talking?
