Next Publish: Tamed Pets Now Do 50% Damage To Players In PvP

Wouldn't that be a good fix?

No more getting 2 shotted 3 screens away by super dragons. Tamers remain the same in PvE, and technically -can- be used in PvP, but not as effectively.

Does that means Tamers would take 50% damage from players?

You'd still get hit from as far away. The reason you get hit that far away is because the spell/breath weapon was initiated while you were on screen. Pets cannot target you, initially, from 3 screens out.

This was mentioned in another thread... where is the actual announcement?

And is this just firebreath damage or overall damage both physical and magical?

No, it wouldn't be a good fix. That is too general. If your problem is the dragon or dragon breath, fix those, not nerf all pets.

If you want to cap damage for pets, make it the same cap for ALL PvP. that would be a good fix.

The BEST fix would be to stop making a new "Nerf Tamers" thread every day! Just add to the old ones.

50% is to extreme i agree with the 35 cap damage from pets. dragons could still be nasty if they hit you fs you and breath weapon you all at once but not the 50+ breath weapon that is what kills you 9/10 times. Hiyrus also need some lowering down i reciently made a gimpy bush tamer and my hiyru will do 80-100 damage to someone in a double strike and this is before working up his anatomy or gming his tatics basicly freash tamed and taken to fel.

I say put your big girl panties on and deal with it. Tamers are not going anywhere and Dragons will never do half the damage why would they have made greaters then?

I mean really that's like saying hey lets take off all the hit area skills off your weapons or any leech for that matter!!
Lets make it so that its caps at 30% just for you DUH!

This is such a useless thread....:coco:

Someone get pwned by a tamer maybe? LOL

SIGH....

Cap Firebreath at 35

Make ninja take a pet slot while in animal form

Tweak smoke bombs to take 100 ninja/hide and take 20 mana.

You would have balance if all those changes were implimented.

Every other template out has had caps put in place to allow balance, why not finally put it in with this?

Or could we just take off the bonded pets?

IMO taking off pet bonding would be the quickest and easiest fix.

Tamers cry here ---------->

Except that with bonding came control slots... so if bonding is taken away, do we see tamers with 5 or more dragons again? :gee:

MAkes no sense to change the above because most ninjas are not tamers
Ninjitsu is fine as is

Personally, I think tamers have no place in PvP anyway. "All Kill" should not decide a fight. You don't see bards provoking dexers onto one another, do you? There are some skills that just shouldn't enter the PvP arena and taming is one of them.

Its called a "cheap shot".

That being said, people are always going to go for the easy win which is why we always have a flavor of the month. Yes, a damage cap is needed in PvP period, especially against tamers. ffs, greater dragons are slightly harder than AWs were before they got boosted. Its so incredibly stupid that players can control something that powerful... (Yes, I do have a tamer, and I got along just fine with my WW and mare before GDs came along).

ALL damage against players is halved as it is. It's been that way since right after the initial release, when players were getting one-shotted by trolls and ogres. If you 1/4 the damage then ALL pets, not just super-slayers, will be impacted.

You're getting whacked from off-screen due to lag, not because the dragons are 3 screens away when they fire, BTW. The dragon MOB saw you, sent a "breath weapon vs player # 123456" message to the server, and by the time your client got told you were dead you were on another screen and still running. It's been worse. Several years ago a player posted a claim that he had recalled from a dragon in one of the dungeons to Britain and was standing in front of the bank when a fireball came across the screen and whacked him.

I don't see why not. Just increase the control difficulty by the # and type of pets controlled. When your GM tamer has 5 dragons out let there be a 50% chance it will go wild and attack him when he tells one to attack someone. If he's using wolves there's only a 20% chance. If he only has 1 dragon and nothing else under control there's a 1% chance. Maybe give him a bonus if the pet has pack instincts. Something like that. There are ways to fix "uberclass" problems w/o taking a sledgehammer to it.

Without taking a sledgehammer...?! Taking away bonding would mean my five times GM Cu, which took months to train, is effectively an ornament unless I decide to risk losing it forever.

True for spells, not entirely true for fire breath. When a critter goes to breath it'll roar then stand still for a second or two, during which time it's possible to get clear. So long as you're out of range by the time it actually lets fire you're safe.
