[Solen Matriarch Quest] Busy with another task?

Okay, I'm attempting to do the Solen Matriarch quest... but I can't. I give her a seed, and she says, in summary "I'd like to make you a friend of the hive, but I see you're busy with another task. Perhaps you should finish whatever is occupying your attention at the moment and return to me once its done.

I have no quests (Just made sure: I resigned from one, and finished the other. My quest log is empty.

What on earth is hanging me up here? I mean, I don't mind farming seeds, but it seems rather stupid to hold me up for something I can't even see.

When you say your "Quest Log" do you mean the thing you get into from the paper doll?

If so, that's the issue.

There are actually two quest engines in UO. One is the ML quest engine; you access that from the quest button on your paper doll.

But there's an older quest engine; that one you get into from the context menu (click on yourself or hold down shift and click on yourself). You can only be on one of those older quests at a time.

Are you on, or have you recently been on, Victoria's Quest (to get a Gold Skull and enter the Doom Gauntlet), the Collector's Quest from New Haven, or the Hag's Quest?

Aha! You're my hero. It was an old Collector's quest that I never finished, and couldn't figure out how to remove the items from my backpack, so I paged a GM to do so. So, I couldn't complete it in any event! Cleared that out, and she gave me the quest.

Yeah, that same thing jacked me up at first until I was informed that there were actually 2 separate quest engines... the ML one and the Legacy one.

This one bewilders me somewhat too.

Even more confusing.....There's arguably a third quest engine: Whatever it was they used to do the Halloween/Khaldun infestation quest and the Royal Council investigation quest. (Personally, I think the resurrected some old code that related to finding magic items.)

Leaving that one aside for the moment....I can understand, I think, why they have two main quest engines. Basically, I think they were probably running out of time to release Mondain's Legacy, which had this very good quest engine in it. They managed to integrate the escort quests, but ran out of time to integrate the few quests on the other engine. And since then there's been a lot of things going on.

(The above account is of course all speculation.)

Though I can understand this....I really think they should at some point, relatively soon, figure out a way to integrate the "legacy" quest engine into the ML one. This is annoying enough for current players, let alone if we get any new players in any significant enough numbers.
