Is it worth it to come back? Ive been away since 2006 after everything just got boring. PvP was so ridiculously unfair if you didnt have a ton of gold to drop on arties, and PvM had gotten stale. Has anything changed for the better?

Now you need a ton of silver for faction artifacts.

Now you just need to farm silver for 2-3 hours and kill a friend a few times and you're able to equip the highest tier items in the game on your first day playing.

There's more balance in PvP than 3 years ago, mostly, but discussing this matter on this board may be a not so good idea ^^

I think the faction items were a great addition. It gives players that don't have the time to farm all those items the chance to actually be able to use them.

But personally I think now is a great time to start playing. But it all depends on your play style & what you're looking in a game to decide if "todays uo" is right ;x. With the new replicas, faction arties and the upcomming SA (whenever it comes... lol) it's a great time to get into the game. But pvp is a bit better as far as high end items within all players reach. (Thank duped vals/heartwoods & faction arties! ). Hopefully the new spawn cam change/nerf will make obtaining scrolls a bit more realistic for the casual gamer not in a "top tier" guild.

I would say try it out. Arty wise its now common for people to have them its not just a select few. They arnt as rare either. I dont know how placed PvP is but you dont need much for arties.

Give it a try for a month and see what you think.

Back to the point. UO or any game you play is what you make of it. The depth of UO is unparalleled.

Back on topic, if it's arties you are worried about, one content update added a point system for Doom that works like Treasures of Tokuno I and II (not sure if you were around for either of those particular publishes).

Also, a recent content update (there are regular content update nowadays) added faction versions of the more useful arties that you can buy with silver. These are more powerful than the Doom versions and are only available to factioneers. UOGuide has a great page on this:

There might be a bit of a learning curve. If you have a question or problem, just post on stratics. Lotsa folks will help you out/offer advice.

Oh yeah, all faction towns' trammel equivalents will come under seige by monsters and townsfolk if the sigil in fel has been stolen:

Crafting is just really messed up. So why am I playing? Really, I need another game.
