Virtue Weapons before they became Slayers

Virtue weapons was what we now call slayer weapons. There was this circle of all the creature types. Those across the circle was their sworn enemy. And the ideal was if you desired to get your hands on like a repond type weapon. You would go hunt the repond enemies for a repond slayer. Who else have them as loot. Under a system there is in effect doing less damage if using wrong slayer.

Already there is cool game mechanics that would work. Like the way a pixie notices a neg Karma Necro. The way a paragon is attracted to movement or damage. Way a Juka Mage heals the Lord when damaged and roots him on. The way EoO works when hit by something not orange. Events like the Ophid invasion interaction of spawn. Factions. Kill count and leveling as spawn is killed. Themed dungeons to a creature type.

My Ideal is your one your human in a repond dungeon fighting spawn. Your elf buddy shows up to help. Shouts of "Get the Pointy eared Freak!" and the human smells armpit wondering why his foes left him. We have the Fey and coming deamon races covered. Undead we have a skill already that embraces that. Whats left........Orci & Juka (Faces already in KR). Last is the elemental race, The THING! Maybe corny but I could see something more along the lines of a berserker Conan type race. I'll start a thread on berserkers and others seperatly. Taming and summons be limited by race. Not a big jump to slap new artwork on the Cu template for a Mangy Drooling Warg for the Orcs.

If my JPG don't make it on picture on one side of the circle an elf (Fey) with right arm buddy the Elemental and left the Reptile. Across the circle is an Orc (Repond) and to his left Undead and Deamon to the right. But your an Elf and hate the the fancy pants life, nature. There you have the Drow across the circle, the dark side. Magic using Elementals the tools of the deamons. The Half Orc raised by monks, foe of the dark side. Gargish crafter friend of the mountain life. Humans are that grey goo seeping to the center from between death and earth. Friending and fighting those that will line their pockets with gold. Like some feedback if I got the circle right by the three across from one are foe and ones left and right are related better then the other three. I think I got it right based off the fantsy world.

I dont know what the heck your saying, but in days of old, we never had a Fey Virtue Weapon...thats a new item.

beats me also, all i know is back in the day silver(undead) and vanquishing(everything) items where what we consider slayer's now for the most part.

no, Vanquishing were just that. They had damage increase.

I had a silver supremely accurate katana of vanquishing. It was my pride and joy. But I also had a non-slayer 'supremely accurate katana of vanquishing'.
I can't remember many of the others, but there was 'daemon dismissal' 'troll slaughter' 'Ogre slaying'

Quick look at the Stratics' Slayer Weapon page gives thus
The following parts of this page are strictly preserved for historical purposes. With the release of the Age of Shadows expansion, Slayer Weapons were changed from they way they used to work and spawn.
The Slayer Weapons were an unexpected addition, or rather an extension, to the world of Ultima Online. The following facts were known about them before Age of Shadows:

The Slayer Weapons were only found on greater creatures and confirmation from an OSI representative placed their rarity slightly higher than that of silver weapons.
A Slayer Weapon did double damage to the monster it was meant for. A successful hit with the weapon yielded a little white flash on the monster.
All the Slayer Weapons fell into 6 groups. Each group had an opposing group. Weapons of a particular type were only found on their opposing group. For instance Balrons and Daemons would give Slayer Weapons that did extra damage to Elementals.
When used against their opposing group, it would result in the monster doing double damage to the person wielding the weapon. For example, carry silver, and Repond creatures did double damage to you. Carry Repond weapons and undead creatures did double damage to you. Pick your opponent with care!
Each group had a Super Slayer that would do increased damage to all monsters within that group.
The Slayer Instruments were released with Publish 16 in 2002, long after the weapons were released, they worked the same way as the weapons except instead of doing damage to the creatures they were meant for, they increased the chance of success when using bard skills on them.
The Slayer Spellbooks were released with Publish 31 in 2005 as part of an attempt to make mages more balanced in PvM.
As for the entire list of slayer weapons as found a long time ago, I'm still looking...

virtue weps came out a bit before pub 16, Demon Dismissal, Elemental Ban, Repond Slayer, are some of the super slayers, and ive got lots of old bows with the non super slayer slayer mods, Blood Drinking and Summer Wind are two that i can think of.

Later when pub 16 hit most of these items where renamed but some of the bows kept the old tags.

Silver was the only origanl slayer.

The majority of those that kept the tag as i remember where the Juka bows.

yes the juka bows that did were not modified i think, i have a few non juka ones still to think i still have a short spear of blood drinking somewhere.

I had a silver supremely accurate viking sword of vanquishing. I was so nervous carrying it that I sold it to a guild mate for 50K gold. At that time, I just couldn't believe anyone would be willing to pay that much for a weapon!

Hey, that was a decent weapon. High damage. Speed wasn't necessarily as important back then in PvM. Though, granted.....Nothing beat the katana's combination of damage and speed. Hell, it's still the best weapon, overall. I use other weapons because I keep finding nice properties on other weapons.

Oh my! that brought back some memories.

It certainly used to add spice to a level 3 map. If you forgot to put down your silver after killing a lich and an ogre lord spawned next you were a one hit kill. Or at least I was. There was a definite 'what the hell happened there' moment to it.
Maps weren't the solo event they are now. I used to do them with a friend. He dug it, I dealt with the spawn.

related to that freind of mine was doing the bone deamon and forgot to take off his trinket, hit him for like 208 and one shot the hell out of him :)

What i dont understand is why a demon would do extra damange to a person with undeard slayer unless the bone demon is vunerable to Repond.

I added the Fey in as way it would fit in the circle and ya waiting for the fey spellbook and bows also. Using one those old Juka slayers late modded to get a second slayer on the Bone Demon was eye opener. Some hits would be high dmaage and others would be of little damage. Like the bow was randomizing what slayer it used. If your Lucky like me and have a demon gargoyle or reptile dragon duel slayer Juka............you find no need to use EoO. Theese duals take you to max damage without EoO. Drop a Blazing Gargoyle with consecrate weapon one hit.

There are those that have the weapons titled pre Aos Pub16 "a magic spear" that has a slayer type. They have the DI based off what weapon type they'd been for str.

Find fighting some creature types with the undead tally on still lessens the damage also. So something is still there hiding in the code.

Was just playing with the though as more race options are added in the Future what world events could be played out. How a necro tamer that embraces the undead could stand out by there pets looking the part. First time they rez or at time tame of their GD it looks like a skele dragon as long as they are still a necro. Nightmare and horse already have their artwork. Its no big step to stretch new skins over exsisting templates. Gargish tamer would never want a fluffy elf dog around but would have a Cu stats creature that was a three headed dog. Or Orcish tamer would have there Warg. Already the necro animates a horse and it dies off unless they cross server then it hangs till relog. Necro could kill a Cu and animate it for there undead Cu creature version. The real task be a necro in a fey area trying to tame the animated Cu version while the spawn tries to kill it before it dies due to time. Or at pet transfer takes on race look and never reverts to another.

Once they figure out that there is such a thing as an anti paladin class and make karma work both directions for spells they'd go to the necro tamer. He'd kill animate and tame a swampy that have the skeletal art version of it. And a barding deed used on it would hue the bone color.

And realized noone caught the fact I missed the arachnids. I think they'd fit between the undead and elemental. 7 classes would mean each one would have 4 foes classes. The ideal is in the future there would be race dungeons and a and a tier system that would determine the races agro level to enemy races. And only level changes due to foe race killing. A sacrifice (Tithing) system ate the entrance of the dungeon to lower the hostility. Race based cities for players with statues showing hostility levels and place to sacrifice to lower hostility. High hostility would mean foe would agro and move at the speed of a paragon. Just not have the casting or HP jacked up. Just a way to spice up the hunt without having to add more spawn or types. Look at the way the demon champ abuses the male character. Mechnics in the game are there just need a reostat added. Wind is selective for game mechancis. A large dungeon spawn area having the races zones. That has jacked up loot and resourses. The center would be a larger version of the way the Oaks Ish pixies and the skeletons to the east get along there. Your race type and the ones next to you in the circle don't agro you. But as an elvish charcter and gargish character in this area your fair game to each other. Unless your a necro/race or a Drow Elf/repond better keep to your zones.

Just see the races and their lifestyles and history would add an RPG back into the game. Your on your gargish character going to see if friend is home. They are on their elf tamer and have to lock their Cu in the back room so you can come in. Hostility level is up. There is no reason for a SleeStack tamer to go to Umber with there GD and not think the anti-paladins there wont want a mounted dragons head. Want to use the Queens Soulforge in the Gargoyle city as an elf you pay tribute at the gates for days pass. Inside the walls of Luna the nutral zone. Unlike the other systems of factions or guilds you can not target a charcter of the same race.

Humans would at server up be in the nuetral area considered inferior to other races. Till they draw blood. Kill that nighmare and your lifebar is framed in an enemy color to the undead till server down. Or you as a human go to your elvish friend to have earings made by one there tinks. They declared you a friend of that race and ahs lesser race effect bestowed on them. Fey would be the nightsite. Undead cold resist. Cooler then the earings would be tink made Tattoo Needle and Ink. DC it and works like the savage paint. Allows you to move freely about the demon race and have their race typed pets. And agroed by enemy races as if of demon class. Before a months time the earings need repair or a refresh of tattoos.
