Do you think DF will hurt the player base of UO that much?

I have been reading on their forums and yes there are tons of old UO players posting on there but most dont play UO anymore and havent for years. I guess it may pull the rest of the pvpers out of UO but that is it. I for one cant play a total pvp gank game. I am not a carebear, I like to pvp but when i want too, not random ganking and pking.

A full loot, total PvP system can work. We shall see. I have played UO off and on since day 2 probably. It was a lot of fun watching your back, knowing players, and always risking. Not all DF players will be "red". Time will tell!

I am currently in Darkfall Beta, basically anyone from games like Star Wars Galaxies, Shadowbane, Ex-UO and current UO PvP'rs, will play this game... This is the first MMO in years to have a nice classic touch to it, it is as far from WoW as you can get, it wasn't made after WoW's success like AoC and WAR was, who tried to compete with WoW..

lol, if nothing more DarkFall will be a hilarious drama to watch unfold as the playerbase realises that a free for all full loot PvP system is NOT the holy grail of MMO playstyles.

At the end of the day though I'd consider Darkfall a massive success if it manages to stick to it's principles, and manages them in a way that makes the playerbase happy, even if the number of subscribers drop significantly after launch.

EVE has no safe zones and no non-pvp servers and they have over 250,000 players and still growing, started with about 65k players when the game was new.. What makes you think this?

I love the full loot, it sucks when you die and lose your gear, but once you kill another player and find all that treasure on them you will have the biggest smile on your face, items are easy to replace in Darkfall, much more easier than UO ever was even during pre-aos days.. There is also major consequences when you kill your own race or ally..

I don't see what's so fun about EVE...All you do is fly around in a spaceship and shoot people or mine asteroids with lasers to make more items for the spaceship you never leave.

There are people out there that are always going to try ever new game that comes out, i mean you get a free month. I know what you mean about the hardcore pvps, they do need a game where they can go and be as loud, rude and obnoxious as they want to be. DF will be that game if it turns out to be what they want and then yes those 10% will be out of all the other games, leaving them to be enjoyed by people that play pvp for fun or dont pvp at all. I like the concept of a 3d world that is just like UO but i wont be there in a total pvp land. I am not a carebear, but I just want to do what I want to do in a game, not have some punks deciding to pk me while i am just out hunting or whatever.
Oh how everyone would want EA to make a real 3D UO and I will never understand why they didt. Maybe having all the stuff the 2d world has like the custom housing is just too much for a new 3d engine.

The game is awesome!

Yea getting ganked now and again is a set beck but not so much a set back as here in UO.

The FPS style combat alows a skilled player(gamer skill) to take on and defeat 3 or more other players.

NO SKILL CAP!

While I do retain my uo accounts I have pre ordered DFO and am phyiced about it!

No Grind! Now I know some of you may have read that there is a big grind in DFO bit Ill tell you at 1 skill in magic you have the cast rate of a GM its just a minor damage tweak as you skill up!

In DFO we kill gold sellers and spammers loot them and keep the game clean!
