What I don't like about Siege Perilous

I made a character on Siege. Took everything off him. Walked around and looked at vendors...cause I was gonna make a crafter. You see...I have never worked a single crafting skill....ever. Almost ten years in this game and never sewn a shirt? Anyway....I walked around....never saw a soul. 6:30....on a Sunday. Not a soul. I went to Luna. Saw a dude at the bank. Talked to him for a sec and told him my plan. Nice guy. He said a fletcher would do nicely. I agreed with him. I logged. Came back a few days later to get started. This one dude killed me seven times. I explained I was just getting started. What my plan was and that I was carrying nothing. Seven times. Followed me. Killed me. Told me to go back to wherever I came from. So...I've met two people on Siege. One a nice guy....one a jerk.

A few weeks later. I decided to try it again. Got me an axe and ventured out into the wilderness. Worked hiding and lumberjacking....was doing pretty good. A chick pops up and asks me who I am...and I guess I answered incorrectly. I explained I was just getting started that I heard crafters were needed here and I had never made one before. Dead....dry looted....took my axe? Why? Spite? At this point...I'm ready to say screw it. When I meet a guy who says he'll help me out. Take me to a place where no one will find me....let me cut timber...and check on me every so often. I said GREAT! Thank you! I worked around there for an hour or so....had some actual wood in my pouch. When my new buddy comes back. He asks how I've done...I tell him....he kills me and takes my wood. So...the feel good stories and "community" you all hear about are pretty much crap. I can do without Grief Perilous.

Hard to be an island unto yourself on Siege.

Try NEW. Then have them help you find a guild that fits your playstyle.

I just think its quite funny how you beg peopel to come to siege because its so awesome an theres sooo many players.


And yes that is the main thing I do not like about Siege, its dwindling population.

There's a sort of irony in a thread from a "devoted" Darkfall proponent complaining that Siege is "too hard".

That on top of previous threads makes me wonder how Trammie of a game Darkfall is going to be despite its marketing campaign of being "h@rdc0re"...

I doubt you will be able to solo the whole game in DF (its actually encouraged to have player interaction in DF, which is one of UO's weak points. ) like you can in UO. I know I for one use to solo doom/peerless/spawns/harrorers...

I dont see whats so hard about a game that a single player can defeat any aspect of the game.

Completely understandable...but just a heads up, Siege has plenty of Euro players, so don't think if you do play here that you will be the only one. I remember when I first started playing UO, the best ping I could get on my dial up was 120. It's one of the reasons I started playing a thief. ...la

Iv been back in UO for about 5 months now, started back on europa and found it boring as hell having everything you could ever need so i hopped on a newb char and started out from scratch on atl, lvl'd a tailor and smith made a ton of gold to make a good hunting char and im back to square 1! Now 2 months later im bored again..

After reading this thread when i get home im gona make a char on siege cos by the sounds of it its a hell of a lot more fun than this "make gold/lvl/hunt/get bored/make gold/quit again till a new event happens/do event /get bored/farm resources/get bored again/quit till next event...

Although i am loving the EM events, most fun iv had in years.

Any idea were to start with a crafter on siege? like safe banks, safe places to mine/chop wood/get wool or cotton? OH pm me this else that (Rico..la) will be there waiting to rob me

I can give you what add-ons you need to start crafting safely at home. I have a crafter that can supply most of your start-up needs. Would be glad to help.

Probably not, but then again I have always laughed at the pig headed people who think it's a good idea to rez near the point that they were killed. Go find another healer, and move on. Don't keep wandering back to the place your corspe lies...it's been looted, expect to lose things and play smart, don't let yourself get rez killed 7 times by the same player.

I'm danish too, I have played 9 years on Siege, ping 110-130, not that bad.

Haha, but if you follow the usual logic on the forum.... all PK activity is actually "PvP" activity. Euphemisms for the win.

So, there are actually NO pk's anywhere in UO!

1) There is no risk - I have everything, i go into a battle and i lose what? 3000 gold? I may as well play Call of Duty on my X Box or Street Fighter, ill get the same results.

2) Lack of Community - Ive just moved to Siege and people from tamers, mules through to shard known PvPers/PKers have all offered to help me, with money, items and housing. They dont even know me. Does ANY shard have something like NEW set up?

3) Its so easy, money is far too obtainable, i can have a full artied suit in a month no problem. Gold is worthless, you tell me our items are too expenisive? Your items are worthless.

4) Items - Sure Siege has items, Ornas, Inquis..but PvPers can LOSE them. They lose in a field fight the items get looted and sold back. I can make a 7xGM ( or whatever) char, Leather armour and a good wep and I can pvp, i can particpate! Hell I dont even need a fineshed character.

Siege may not have the player base of Atlantic or Europa, but we also dont have the bull****. Siege has somehow, despite everything, developed the most open community in UO.

Its fair enough stating why you dont like Siege, but the things YOU want in Siege would drive us out, we dont try and change your prodo Shard, dont try and change ours.

Well those tamers/mules/pvpers/pkers were probably all in all about 4-5 people on multiple characters/accounts. The population on siege is worse then Formosa.

lol at this one, sure our items are worthless, thats why they cost so much. /endsarcasm. Gold is only worthless if you try and sell it IRL.

Since you said "leather armor" you must be talking about an all 40's legendary tailor made resist suit.
That character will be dead in about 1 second against a pvp petballin' hiding tamer. Wow fun. This is one of the reasons siege is bursting at the seams with people /endsarcasm

Like I said, siege doesnt have the community of Formosa/Legends ANY OTHER DEAD production shard, so that said, your community must be tiny.

Most people dont like siege because its "AoS-lite", pings suck and hardly anyone plays it. IMO.
