UNLEASHED
We gathered a little early to relax around the campfire and have some roasted mellows, ham, cheese and drinks when we heard the sound of rumble near the carnival tents and stage. We ran to see what was the matter but everything appeared in order and a calmness filled the air ...

but suddenly in a blink of an eye we saw EM Kaen appear...

He welcomed us to the fairgrounds and proceeded to explain that we would be asked to partake in a fierce battle to retrieve items from some monsters that were foreign to us and we had a few minutes to prepare ourselves for battle.... but there was a lot more to this story then he could ever tell and told us to wait while he helped escort the merchant to the stage who would explain....

Jeffrey the Candy Merchant was certainly in an uproar...

and proceeded to tell the story of how his special valentines candy had been taken from the caravan before it had arrived at the fairgrounds by these strange looking beasts and that we must hurry to find the 30 candy hearts before the time ran out of two hours and before any of them wander into the desert where they would melt...

and then he announced that the first five people to bring back the most hearts would be presented with a special reward spun by the Candy Merchant!

The participants took off looking in the Luna and Umbra area as directed by Jeffrey the Candy Merchant while a few of us stayed behind to help pass along any word we may hear from the fields. Slowly word came that these rock monsters were certainly mean and we wondered if it wasn't partly because of their special neon blue and bright pink colorings! It was also noted that each of these candy hearts had timers and as Jeffrey had stated time was of importance...

There also seemed to be a fight breaking out between the Candy Merchant and a follower of Casca, Daniel Ravens! Battering with hot breathed words back and forth they discussed what seemed to be 'politics' and it was quite obvious that there would be no mutual agreement about the Elf 'King' Casca and the debate would countinue on to the end with EM Kaen speaking his mind ... but I was busy taking pictures and missed most of what was said ...

90 minutes had passed and the fighters were returning to the fairgrounds with any of the hearts they had managed to retrieve from these candy snatchers and as those lucky enough to retrieve these special hearts turned them in Jeffrey took a tally and announce the top 5 redemptions ....

Ansatsu of [Mofo] returned 7 candy hearts! Dont Shoot of [B-C] had retrieved 6!! Then he called out Veskara of [TI] who had delivered 5 hearts and Galahad of [KHV] who managed to return 4 to the Candy Merchant!!! And the fifth to return the most was Clym of Clough [KVH] with 2 candy hearts!!!!

A total of 28 hearts were found and it was discovered that 2 of these theiving candy monsters had wandered off into the desert and as feared melted completely along with the hearts.

Jeffrey the Candy Merchant and EM Kaen were very pleased on how quickly the Sonoma participants had gone to help retrieve these priceless hearts...

Jeffrey was so delighted that he uttered something about us being as delicious as his candies ...like we were good enough to eat??????

They stayed quite a while afterwards mingling with the crowd and thanking everyone for their grand efforts!

Congrats to the winners

A question for all that did it, how many of you are going to sell your reward for a ungodly amount of gold.

My dear sir, whatever it is that has made you bitter toward events of this kind is a mystery to me. I have never seen you post so negative in all my years of watching these boards. I was totally in shock.

Should we not be happy that someone has taken the time to develop something other than those dreary mundain tasks we have all been tortured long enough with?? Are you much happier devouring all of the plates of food, champ spawns etc??? Come now, let's give it some time to turn into something we can all look forward to. We can NOT expect the higher Gods that be, to turn these meer young EM's loose to do as they see fit until they have been properly trained in the arts of dealing with the people.

In my opinion, we have some wonderful people taking the time to entertain us as we have begged for. Thank them, for it is no easy task they have taken upon themselves to do. As we have seen in the past and will continue to observe in the future, all cannot be pleased all of the time. I applaud their service to my shard and will continue to be present at each and every event I can attend in support of what they are doing for all of us.

Open your heart. I am sure you will see much merriment if you but remove the clouds from your eyes....After all ... it was your daughter that taught me so long ago. The one most important thing in my Journey thru this land. She spoke the words so softly at the end of her lesson as my companion. "Never, young one, as long as you dwell in this land, never forget to see it thru your "young" eyes. I still see the beauty of this land we call Sosaria. It is because of her that I do.

Going to the event --- one month subscription to ultima
Participating & getting ready --- roughly 2 hours
Winning an Event item for the first time --- PRICELESS

I know of one necklace ( I reunited Gabriella and Evan ) & two finely spun roses that shall dwell on Sonoma forever.....

Tips hat to Gal and Clym ... Go KHV !!!

Morning Braun, good to see your post, as for my post, Sunday was a very bad day for us here, you can see more at UO hall thread about the EM and also at the PAS forum. As for what I have said about items in game, I am a firm believer that there should not be such one of kind items like the silver sewing kit from yrs ago. When we first got to meet the New EMs one gave me a welcome sash, I locked it down at home, later I had dropped in on a Alt char to say hi again and was presented a sash from the EM, I turn it down explaining that she had given me one on my main Char. Now everyone that visit the EM got a welcome sash and that to me is ok as all got one if they came to visit them.

Drakelord you need to get through your head that everyone is not out to make "ungodly amounts of gold" as you put it.. Some people do events cause they enjoy them.. They enjoy the time with there friends..

I personally had a great time at the events.. I thought the EM did well and made everyone very aware of the way things were going to work.. Sure these events do bring out some people who start to cry when the didn't win.. But i would say most had a good time.. Drakelord I know youll say read PAS boards for more people that didn't like it.. And i have.. Your guildmate took something way out of context and thought it was directed at her/him when it wasn't.. I was there.. I saw who the EM was talking too..

I say all this because I don't want the EM program to get ruined by a few nay sayers again.. Anything that brings events to our shard is a good thing the way i see it.. And this isn't just because myself and a few of my guildmates actually won.. (My first time by the way)

And I want to echo Braun and say that there are 4 more necklaces and one more rose that aren't ever going to be sold and are on Sonoma for as long as I am around.. The rose is actually locked down at a friends Vendor in Luna.. Cause I didn't think it should be hidden in my house.. I thought it belonged to Sonoma so its there for all to see and share..

Anyone remember the machine in the Castle courtyard in Brit? That was a cool event, we all gave from our heart to have that machine finished. How about the new mage tower on Moonglow? As far as I know we gave so much for that, almost as much as the Brit machine, if not more. Again it came from our hearts, did we get anything special for that? Yes we did, a gift for all of us. How about that training camp Hazel made, we did not do anything, but it still out there in malas ready for anyone that wishes to use it. And those new tents outside Luna [If they leave them up] are cool.

I would rather see stuff like this then see the events we saw this weekend. I am looking forward to the Bank Deco contest winner being posted, and if they get something for the work they did, fine, but the real reward is going to be seeing the ideas and art they sent in for our bank. These are things I enjoy more then seeing the greed and the gimmie, gimmie that I saw Saturday.

I am glad to hear that your V-day prize is staying on Sonoma and not being sold as so many in the past were. But I still think such events as this weekend are D&P shows and a waste of my time.

My rose won't be sold either, Although it won't be out in luna for all to see either. I hoard all my goodies away in boxes. :spider:

Oh and I wouldn't mind having the Em events done away with already either. Like I said before...4 necklaces for one group? hmm..... Yeah I feel like throwing a tantum until they go away.

Hmm.. I don't see what the problem is there.. We all went to the locations on our own.. All wrote our own books.. All figured out the clues.. Why wouldn't each person get rewarded? I didn't realize it was against the rules to talk to guildmates.

Because of my work schedule, I rarely ever attend these events. I'm usually sleeping. But I don't see a problem with them at all. I do agree that in addition to the winners recieving what ever it is they get, all participants should get something. I remember an event that I actually attended in Jelom in the fighting pits where the winner got a helmet made out of a pot (nice stats if I remember correctly) but everyone that showed up and fought got a shirt that read "I died at the Jelom fighting pits and all I got was this stupid shirt." I like things like that. Any way Congrats to Ansatsu and all the other weiners er winners. MoFo forever!

I think these events are terrific but I do agree with Sagan (OMG, I'm agreeing with you, really?), I'd like to see everyone that attends the events get a little something. And I also will tell you, this rose is locked down on a pedestal in front of my house so everyone can see it, even without entering the house and has a book explaining the event it came from beside it. It WILL NEVER be sold or sent to another shard, Sir Drakelord!
I loved this article and all the ones you take your precious time to do, Mum, I've told you in game, but you make this shard sooooo unique and wonderful with all you do for us here. Thanks is never enuf for you, I'm proud to know you!! (even if ya did get my KHV guild initials turned around in the article, hehe). Oh, Ansatsu? ummm, "no significant properties......" -- I love that!!!! heh
Congrats to all the winners, hope yer as proud of that rose as I am, my first event item ever after 6 years in this game. Here's to many more events and many more years in this fantastic game!!
