[Inscription] Intenisty?

I feel embarresed to ask, but I really have no idea!
Does any other skill like Eval/Med/Armslore/Resist help with your chances of better spellbooks? Or is it just Inscribe/Magery?

Your incription skill does not have any effect on the properties you can get on a crafted spellbook. Inscription only changes your chance of success when crafting the books.

Your magery effects the chance of having properties, having more than one (up to three) properties, and may have some impact on the intensity (though I have not noticed, since the ranges are so small). I believe you need at least 80.0 magery to see any properties, but wont have a chance at 3 property books until your magery is at least 100.0.

No other skills effect crafted spellbooks.

In order to have better intensity on spellbooks, you will need a descent crafting talisman for the trade. If you don't, then I suggest going and getting one. It will help your crafting success rate.

Other than that, Barry already said it. The higher your magery skill is, the better of a chance you have of obtaining various properties. Not to mention, properties you would actually want.

What are the best options in this catagory?

I just blew through 37,000+ scrolls without a talisman, because I didn't know this. :(

The talisman does not increase the intensities of the spellbook.
That is based on your magery.
The talisman does increase your odds of making a spellbook.
So you need a talisman with high inscription...regular inscription.
That will increase your odds of making a spellbook.
The more books you make, the better your odds of making a super slayer or a book with high mods.
The exceptional inscription boost of a tali just gives you an increased chance of making an exceptional book, which puts your name on the item.

Lady Rachel is correct. I did not phrase it exactly how I wanted to say it. You need a talisman in order to craft better spell books in addition to everything else that has been said in this thread. The reason being is you will have a better rate of success with regular spells books, as well as obtaining exceptional ones. All dependent of course on your talisman percentages.

However, it has nothing to do with sheer quantities of spellbooks. You can make good ones or not. I made 2 demon slayer ones within 1000 scrolls of one another and they both had other mods on them. And...that was when I was around 93.1 inscription.

I basically liken it to other crafts. If you make exceptional...well, it is usual better then if you don't. And, of course magery helps (think of that as your main skill) and inscription as your secondary. Sort of like having arms lore as a secondary to your main skill of blacksmithy.

Thank you both for your answers.

I actually started crafting spellbooks with my ancillary mage that only has 110 magery, because she was the one that already had the 100 inscription.
I quickly moved the inscription over to my legendary mage, because I figured, why not give myself the very best possible chances to craft books?

One last question...
What are the max intensities for inscription talismans?

Anything above 20% is great. If you find an inscription talisman with 30% exceptional, and then a 30% add to your regular skill well...that would be something. I've never seen one in inscription with 30% of both. Not to say it's not possible, but it is a feat that is quite rare.

- Inscription skills and Talismans will not directly improve the properties on your spellbook. They just help to succeed more often when attempting to craft the spellbook, thus resulting in less scrolls wasted, faster spellbook production and less money spent per spellbook.

- Exceptional quality will not improve the properties on your spellbook. It's just used to apply the maker's mark on the book.

- Magery skill will improve the properties on your spellbook. At 100 Magery, in principle you can already craft spellbooks with maximum number of properties and maximum intensities. However, raising Magery to 110 and better to 120 will improve your chances to get more than one property on the spellbook. With more properties per spellbook, your chances to get the "good" properties on a book (like Slayers) are improved.

I've heard all sorts of urban legends about Inscription, for example that raising your Magery as high as possible above 120 with jewels improves your books, but they have no developer confirmation - anyway try whatever makes you feel lucky :)

In summary:

- Get 100 Inscription and a +30% Inscription talisman to waste as few scrolls as possible when scribing
- Get 120 Magery for best quality spellbooks

Also, your intelligence increases the amount and intensity of properties.

Thats INT not Mana, use as much boost as you can, attempt to get INT bonus on every piece (its why the my book tali is favoured for scribe crafting, only tali with INT bonus)

I found this out half way through burning 30k scrolls...before i had max int (and stupid mana but i dont think that helps as such) got 0 super slayers and poopy books (15k scrolls down the drain), after i maxed out (already had 120mage gm scribe) i now have a full set of super slayer (15k scrolls not wasted!!!)

Aye, good point that has not already been mentioned. So you just set +INT for doing spellbooks? I always had a pretty high INT build, so I could not say or make a justification like you have. Interesting...

What was the INT originally? Just curious.

I trucked around about 3 weekends ago and gathered up 50,000 blank scrolls, but I've been putting off making spellbooks for a while, cause it's soooo boring.

I did find myself a nice 16% Inscription 12% Exceptional Inscription talisman for cheap.
and I popped on some +INT jewels (Side note: Is INT capped at 150? I was sitting at 149 INT and put on a +8 INT ring and my INT went to 150???)

I cranked out one backpack full of spellbooks and WHAMO!!!

1 - Elemental Slayer
1 - Repond Slayer

In the first 120 spellbooks!!! Man was I happy (Thank you RNG)

That brings me up to the following:

2 - Demon Slayers
1 - Elemental Slayer
1 - Repond Slayer
1 - Reptile Slayer
1 - Undead Slayer

The elusive Arachnid Slayer is the only one left.

*prays to the god of bugs for good fortune*

So all of that occurred in the first 120 spellbooks? Wow, a heap of good luck!

Not all of the spellbooks occurred in the first 120 books, just the Elemental Slayer and the Repond Slayer. But I guess that in itself is pretty darn good :)

The Reptile Slayer, Undead Slayer and 2 Demon Slayers happened in the course of doing 37,000+ scrolls about a month and a half ago.

The first set of 15k scroll was done at 100int and something like 170mana

The second set was 150int(cap) and about the same mana.

Realy????? Since when does INT have anything to do with the scribe properties on a spellbook? Reference?????

There is no reference its just from my experience...and lets be honest most scribes wont have difficulty capping int so why not lol.

I could be wrong but im one of those who rather not risk it.
