Consider additional +(50-100) to Skills Cap

I'm frustrated at all the restrictions UO has implemented over the last 2-3 years on this game, items have replaced skills, skills requiring multiple other skills to use, and the overall freedom that UO represented in the past has been severely restricted.

Case and point: Tank/Hybrid/Parry mages were a very viable and deadly combination, also very fun to play. Advantages of special moves without the weapon damage output of a regular dexer. Now almost unplayable due to the significant skill/stat restrictions on this type of template. 120 Wep + 90 Tact minimum for your competitive PvP template. Squeezing in your mage skills (Eval/Mage/Med/Resist) can be very difficult and removal of toggling from specials while casting makes it almost impossible to play.

An additional +(50-100) skill points will definitely be a nice facelift to the current templates of the month and hopefully revive some old templates that have been castrated by the recent changes to skills such as Ninjitsu and Tactics.

No thanks... they need to make "more" restrictions so there are less of these all in one templates.

I'd rather see more diverse templates rather than this two skill tamer template BS:spider:

No, thanks. While I understand exactly what you mean, as my first char was a similar template, I don't think more skill points are the answer. Part of the fun of this game is seeing what kind of craziness you can squeeze into 700-720 points, especially with the recent restrictions.

It's already there and then some... +skill items.

Beyond that, we need MORE skills, not more skill points. SKills that allow different templates to thrive when specialized, as well as allowing for hybrid skillsets, but at a lower general power than a specialized skillset.

Taming as a singular skill set is only overpowered b/c of the types of creatures they control, viz. Greater Dragon and Dread Mares. Creating more restrictions will basically choke out any other templates other than the ones with the most powerful skill set, in your case, tamers + whatever else. Having more variability makes for more playability and survivability. Increase the skill cap even by 50 points will allow for those "almost" templates we've tried but are not quite as successful due to the skill restrictions.

No thanks. 720 is plenty with all the +skill items out there. Most of my chars are at 800+ now.

If all you need is 50 points, then I would suggest finding some good skill jewelry or artifact items that cover those 50 points.

Why can't you make hybrids anymore?

I have tactmage, parrymage (with scribe and resist both), necromage, tamermage, archertamer, bushparrymage(with evasion and all). You just need to use items and skills wisely.

I agree. I want my tank mage back. Besides more skill points more imagenary templates and fun instead of seeing necro mage around every corner or if not that a ninja tamer or if not that a archer/dexter around the next and of course the template of the month till it gets nerfed to oblivion with the next patch. Getting pretty boring when you can already predict the next template you gonna encounter.
Besides they owe us for scaling everything into needing 120 to be effective at all and nerfing our 7xgm to needing 6xlegendary to even play well.

I agree completely. Rather than adding more skill points I'd rather they do something like limit the number of legendary skills you can get on a single character. Say... 2.

You would, ironically, see MORE template diversity this way rather than everyone feeling like they "have to" go legendary with all their critical skills, which limits the total number of skills a particular character uses of course.

Let me get this straight, your complain that a mage needs more skill points, if any templates in the game are easy to make Hybrids of, it is the mage. Try playing a full bard or even a warrior and want 120 in all the major skills you need to compete. Those templates are cramped.

Every time someone does come up with a good hybrid template (Necromage, StealthTamer, etc.) everyone whines that it is overpowered.

Sampires are more or less the tank mages of old anyway. Just get some +skill items and you can be a Sampire with GM magery.

What else could you want out of a tank mage?

Bad idea!
Make UO even less challenging? Now we have overpowered items, overpowered skills already, and you want to take away the last small challenge, which is building a good template?

Right now, we all "lack" about one skill in our templates to make the perfect character. To my opinion, this is not a disadvantage, on the contrary! It adds to diversity. It prevents everyone to make the same standard super power template. It makes building a character a challenge.

I slowly tend to agree with some people here who are saying, that UO is full of whining Trammies who want the developers to take every challenge out of the game. Some people still don't seem to have understood that pushing every skill to 120 is nonsense and a total waste of skill points....

Suggestions like these always make me a little angry. So don't take this as a personal attack.

I would rather see a few skills added to the jewelery set, like Tracking for instance rather than add 50 extra skill points to my template.
