Cu Sidhe help

OK, I've got down that to tame a Cu Sidhe you need to Paralize, tame and then Invis.

I can't paralize one. I have Magery at 106, Eval at 87 and Int 90. What's too low, or what am I missing?

Or am I just losing what's left of my mind?

Could always learn to lead tame.

I wouldn't recommend para-taming them. If you para them before you tame them, it lowers their stats.

You are better off honor taming them. To do that, spend a week or so working up your honor. Just create a macro for invoke virtue - honor. Go someplace where you can fight high-fame monsters, like the Ice Fiend room in Ice.

Honor, all kill, loot. Keep doing that til you hit the 3rd tier of honor.

Once you get that high, go back to the Cu's honor yourself, tame away. You should get a few attempts in before he feasts on your bones!

And, if I am not mistaken...you need to be an elf to tame them.

For para to stick for very long, you need GM eval I believe.

You either need to lead tame them or to work the spawn through para taming, get eval to GM and then try again. I worked the spawn that way very successfully, once I got the timing done. You need to learn when that para will break to get the next cast dropped on time, but it's very effective once you practice.

However, when you get to the pup you DO want to keep, don't para tame it or you'll lose skill points unnecessarily. Para taming is only good for working spawn. I just lead tame keepers though.

Like Wenchkin said lead tame them. You'll probably die a lot the first hour or so but you'll figure it out eventually. What i do is lead it around the rock in the middle of the sand and hold in my taming macro. Also make sure you have good suit of armor so the cu doesn't kill you in one bite.

It always fascinates me why people freak out about para taming a Cu. IT DOESN'T MATTER LOL! With Cu's, their stats are going to be cut in half at taming. Period. Obviously, as with other tames, dex can be worked back up. Skill will be what they will be. All can be worked up to GM, no higher. Para taming doesn't mean jack if the pet can't go above GM in any skills after taming. Where para taming has a negative impact is on pets that CAN go above GM in skills post-tame. For those, you don't want to para tame as the extra skill loss (I believe 4%) could cause them to drop below GM level in that skill and it will only retrain to GM level. For pets that can't go above GM, that little extra skill drop is easily trained back up, and whether the pet was para'd, peace, honor or lead tame, they will not go any higher than GM. Take two hypothetical Cu's, identical in EVERY respect (stats, resists, and skills), and lead tame one and para tame the other, and when trained up they will be identical in EVERY respect.

True the stats of a cu are cut in half. If you find a good one there really is no reason to cut them anymore though if there are ways to avoid the loss.

1. Eval should be at least GM to be effective. It is all I carry and mobs stay paralyzed long enough.

2. Any descent tamer learns to lead tame. You have MANY more chances lead taming, not to mention if you have a good connection, it is pretty much effortless with the cu dogs.

3. You will need to be elf in order to tame them. If not, then no cigar. You will have to either change race or have a friend tame one for you.

4. And pretty much as far as cu dogs go, paralyze + invisibility option or lead option method, it doesn't really matter. Their stats will be what they will be and they can only go up to GM in all applicable categories anyways.

I've done paralyze tame and lead tame, and I have to say...both my doggies are happy.

Para taming does NOT increase stat loss. At all. Understand??? It increases SKILL loss (by 4% more than other methods of taming), but has NO EFFECT ON STATS. Should I say it for the thousandth time? Stat loss is NOT affected by HOW the creature is tamed. They are cut in half. Period. End of freaking discussion. Doesn't matter the method of taming. Since a Cu can ONLY be trained back to GM level, the ONLY thing para taming does is require a bit more time training up...I'd bet less than an hour total. Sheesh.
