That was one of the worst events ever. So nobody confuses another shards lame event for the one I attended . . . this one was on Napa Valley.

I was just at the Napa event.... besides the fact that there were a few sore losers it was fine. I completed it start to finish with no issues. It was fun!

I came to late so I missed most of it. Did you get anything for completing it?

There are always going to be unhappy people, no matter what you do, I think the new EM's are doing a pretty good job so far. And look forward to better things in the future.

Blah....If your going to make it a race for rewards....you might as well tell the people attending the event thats what it is. Instead of helping other people just to find out its already over and rewards have been given out for those who fiinished first. And lavender was one of those people.

Most events are race related. A race to find or do something... race to end it. Not all events will be the same though... this was the first of many you will get more chances to win something at another event. Stay positive.

Win some, lose many.

Its not nice to call people sore losers. That's just lame. Do we call you a sore winner, since you seem to always win at every Em event. No we don't.
I was at the event also and it was not a fun event because of the monster spawn . My friend and I both got killed by a (hated) healer and by the time we got rezed we were way to far behind to even have a chance at being a winner.

I appreciate the Em putting the time in to the event. I'm glad we have the events but not everyone has fun at them and he has every right to state that with out being called a sore loser.

Sorry if that sounded harsh Millie, I just... didn't like the way some people were endlessly complaining about not getting a reward. As for getting killed and not being able to catch up, well I am sorry you got killed but I am not sure why you couldn't catch up. I was really happy with the way it turned out... because we had to go to the house, and Empath multiple times I thought, if anything, it was too easy because someone could have stood there and waited for people to arrive with keywords and then picked up from there.

I think the layout of the event was very nice. Especially for a first event. We have not done these shard events since 2006 and I think we could all use a refresher on how they work. I do understand some people who are newer to events were confused because the NPC told everyone about the souvenir but of course only some of us got one.

For events, my advice...
a) Work alone or in a small group. Too many people working together results in hard feelings. I almost always do events alone.
b) Use your gut feeling, don't always go along with everyone else.
c) It's almost always time related. Either a race to be first, race to find an item first, race to report something first...
d) Eliminate distractions (I rented my 7 year old a DVD!)
I have spent hours and hours on events, one reward alone took me over 40 hours to get.

I would think it depends on how the crowd is (the shard) and the players.

Having been part of the Atlantic event last week i think Kanmare did a great job.
the Event is a week long and everyone has a chance to do it.

Now bear in mind there was like 80+ peeps in the EM house some of them spamming yelling asking questions just beeing total asses..

So a race probably would have not worked there cause half the people couldnt even read the instructions the EM tried to give.
I was very thankful that she took the time to write them up in a book for everyone.

Personally i prefer the events where everyone can get something small nice, a little something to remember it, other then giving out trophies to 3 or 4 that end up beeing solf for bundles of Gold on the Rares forum. But thats just me :)

So to put into perspective, in my humble opinion an event should be for everyone , meaning the new player that doesnt have a personal runelibrary at his diposal can win too :)

Kanmare gave out clues that even new players could figure out...simply by working with vets or looking it up online.
So it sparked a huge amount of comunity work on Atlantic , groups of people met and tried to solve the riddles together since the locations kept getting changed to!! (great job on that one)

And thats what it should be about. Build Comunity not solo hunters for the biggest reward.

my 2 cents

Watched some come in AFTER I had handed in my book (I was late because I was working ) And they received an item... With only 30 + - there having that limited a supply of gifts was a little low.

Being late I just sucked it up as "I was too late". The event seemed nice, hopefully in the future there will be more of the same event so people that can not make a nite one, are not left out & can make a day one. That would be nice. And yes I saw some of the "I want" comments, disrespectful comments towards the EM's & also people coming on on 2nd characters for their 2nd reward. I also bet these Items are already for sale on Luna vendors for the "Almighty Big Gold" amount that they think they will fetch.

I didn't see that at all, if you are talking about the player we had to wait for, then I assure you this was not the case. Why do I know that? Because he was in Vent with me the whole event. He used that char the whole event and once it was over he handed in his book and left. He thought he wouldn't win.

I think the EM's did a great overall, a guildmate commented (in Vent) how someone that came in after her was awarded and she wasn't. So, I am not really sure what was with the rewards. I do know they don't always use the same system. Perhaps Sezja put the books in a bag and drew from them? I do not know. They did that on another shard though. Just a thought.

On Pacific, the EM tagged along (mostly invisible, I think) and observed some players struggling or dying along the way. Some of these players wound up getting rewards for persevering. Also, I get the feeling the griefers and whiners were eliminated from contention. Anyway, I'm off to do the event again so I can get uncluttered screen shots of the conversations.

Let's keep our criticism constructive, please. Send feedback through proper channels. Most of them EMs are new at the position and likely love the game. I am just guessing here. I suspect it is a good and logical guess.

My experiences with the EMs have been pleasant. I do tend to avoid the pre announced EM events. They seem to bring out the worst sort. I will miss the event this weekend due to work obligations. I will give our EMs a chance to shine.

Will the players shine, or behave as I expect...

It was a mix. There were a few annoying griefers, but there were funny comments and interaction as well. There were good sports who cheered for the winners and there were whiners complaining about not receiving items. My advice, just try to focus on the good folks and use the filter for the annoying ones. :)

Sonoma had its st tonight, it to was a race to travel to all the facets and see certain NPCs for information write that information in a book and return to the EM for a prize.

The top 5 got a special gem tonight. I did not do the event and here is why.

There were some there acting like asses. But it was not nearly as bad as the Casca speeches or last week.

I think the EMs on Atl did a good job. People were getting upset over nothing. The prize was not something "uber" or "leet"...just a keepsake. I am certainly glad I got to participate, as I got to meet some new people during the finding of the books.

I followed your link and read your post and I respectfully disagree. The benefit in this event wasn't for the people who had the best characters or could kill monsters faster than others. The people who had the best odds in this event were the ones who knew the land the best. Being an explorer, this was right up my alley. I didn't, however, win the top prizes, but that was alright. I found the event to be great. What's more, on Pacific, there were many players who were slain by foes along the way. The EM was following along and observing and some of these folks got rewards for persevering. Again, I was in the top ten to finish the quest, but I didn't receive a reward. Rewards went to all sorts who participated and I'm perfectly fine with that. There were people who talked about how they had seen things in-game they had never seen before. This is an illustration that there is so much more to these events then just the items they give away. I'm visiting the NPCs again right now so I can get cleaner screen shots for a write-up. This particular event will keep me busy and happy for several days, I think.

The EMs also asked the crowd what they thought about holding events in Felucca. On Pacific, there was a greatly positive reaction. This sort of event is definitely not geared towards the new player, but I think it's a good thing they offer different sorts of events for different players. A race like this might not be your cup of tea but why rain on someone else's parade? Do you think that PvPers should be ignored by EMs?

Anyway, I want to make it clear I respect your stance but just disagree with it. I know there's no tone in text so please understand that I am just debating a point with you here and there is no ill will intended.

I was there for the whole event on Napa and although I was a bit disappointed that not everyone got a little "token" (such as Sezja signing our books!) it was fun, overall. And, I swear that Flower Girl was named after me!!

I will hold out until Sezja gives me a Kaen Doll! *wink*

I have to agree with Drakelord (in his link). These events should either offer a prize to everyone that participates, or not at all.

There has been too much abuse of these types of things in the past to allow it to just happen again. A lot of people think that we lost Councilors and Seers due to lawsuits, but the truth is...they were biased and providing things to people that they should not have provided to them. GMs have done this in the past as well.

I don't mean to be negative at all. I am very glad to see EMs in the game. I just hope that the true or false accusations of bias do not arise again. The EMs need to make sure that they are fair, because when they hand rare (unique) items to a scant few players, it is simply unbalancing to the game at large.

I know we all want to have live events, so to the EMs I say: Please do not stoop to what some of your predecessors did, because we do not want this program ended. And we don't want to see items from these events selling for tens of millions of gold on player vendors.

On Legends I reached two red balrons killed one 3/4 before any helped and took the last at 1/4 hp left I didn't have a clue about any books no one told me so I never looked so I didn't get nothing. Anyhow the EM's had many spelling errors to many spots the EMs appeared would allow lame people to crowd couldn't see or read anything i'm not saying do away with EM's but please try to plan a bit better.

Why do something if your not going to give it 100% and if that was your 100% please find someone new cuase. . . . . . . . . .

It is happening all over again. Fast connections and whatever equal rewards.

I do not think this will ever change. However the Atlantic Em , imho did it right.

Every single player had a chance. Do the work and get something nice. :)

I had no problems with the event or the event staff. There were a few people, again, that shoulda been jailed and maybe 72'd. You know, the cussing griping unhappy gimme gimme crew.
Yeah some peeps didnt know to loot the red balron on our shard. Probably because instead of taking time to think, "wow this one was different than all the others, what's special here?" when it died they were running around beating their chest screaming "Is That All Ya Got?!?!?!"
and then cussing the EMs at event hall when it was over, I still don't see why some GMs dont drop in on these events once in a while and cull the herd, so to speak...

I knew most of who got items on our shard, and they earned em. Keepsakes, nothing more. Good job, EM Tashik and Faine Morgan, thanks for the nights entertainment.

(And for those who are wondering, no, I got nothing but a good time with the rp of it, of finished the chase mostlly as a ghost LOL)

the only thing i found myself upset with was, we were told to write some information into a book that had to do with the event, then include your name and you would receive a reward!
but someone just ran directly to the em and handed in a book with there name on it! without actually taking part in the event itself, just placed there name into the book with no actual event info, and they received a reward!
i know this to be fact
they overheard over vent that we need to hand in a book to the em with our name in it and the info...they only included there name and received a reward because they had no clue about the rest of it...that kinda pissed me off, but oh well!, no biggie

I did not attend the PvP event on Chesapeake, but I did have the pleasure of participating in the EM sponsored storytelling contest. I placed second, and received a pretty little trinsic-rose style Festival Rose. I'm never selling it, because that is all mine!

Chesapeake was very gracious to Faine, dudley, and Tailspin. The event lasted from around 3 PM to 10 PM, with multiple player-sponsored events. I haven't had that much fun (or laughed that much) in this game in years.

I hope it happens again, even if I don't get anything. I'm not out for making money, I'm out to make friends, and I certainly did that.

You know what the sad and scary part about the negative comments and behavior is?........Alot are grown people doing that..........also noted as I kept vigil.......seems it's mostly male characters making asses out of themselves.

Either way, Atlantics 2 EM's this morning were kind, and very polite.
Something to be learned.

It was nice to have something to do besides the spawns etc.
Very nice it was on Saturday so hopefully many players got to attend.
I didn't get any special items or anything but it was fun.
Only thing I didn't like about ours was the fact that when we had the maidens of the lost lands it was in fel which was fine.
but was no fun for me since there was 3 guilds of red camping the box we had to get to. none of them killing each other, so they gave no one else even a chance, but them since they were casting earthquake & fire area on the box.
But that's fel & they wounder why no one wants to play there.

I wound up just stealthing away & leaving.

but anyway it was fun!!

The Event on Baja was a nice event. Most people were silent so that they could explain the 3 parts of the event.
The first part we had to find rings by killing spawn. they tried to give the Felucca people a chance to participate in the event to. The monsters spawned in Felucca and Trammel. Of course the Reds camped the one in Felucca, but Well what do you Expect .
The Second part was a puzzle in Trammel. It was a lot of fun for the most part until both the towns we had to go in for the event magically got infected by red spawn. Then it was run like heck and hide. lol
I think I enjoyed this puzzle event more than the one I did on Napa. Havering done the one on Napa, I understood the basics of how the puzzle events worked better.
The last Part of the event was for Trammel and Felucca. It's to write a bard song about the nights event. Cool ideal I think, giveing the role players something to work their craft on.
There where really only 2 jerks there IMO and that was at the end of the event, one would not shut up and kept dancing around EM Seppo as he was trying to explain the 3rd part of the Event. The other one kept demanding a robe for finishing the quest. I have to give EM Seppo and EM Plallo a Big Kudos for putting up with them. I would not of been able to keep a smile on my face. And considering They are just learning I can only see better events in the futuer.
