My play style was just nerfed

There are a very many of us on all the shard that enjoy cross trading holiday and special gifts. I feel that what has been done to these Valentine gifts is a total and complete nerf to my play style. Ever since the beginning of gifts being given out people have been allowed to trade the gifts but now all of a sudden these ones can not be traded. I can't even give the gifts of mine on Sonoma to other friends on Sonoma. I think these and all gifts of this nature should not be account or character bound.

TBH Its probably an issue the same as the personal attendants, were as they cant be traded after being used. Probably something they have to do to avoide ploblems later.

Well, not sure I can add anything to this except, it is probably a good thing if we don't have more packrats in the game. I'm a packrat. But, well. Sorry to hear it has effected you in such a bad way :/.

The heart is account related, you cannot just give it away, it has to be program and given as a gift to another for them to use it, so that is time comsumming, so I can see what the OP is saying as I had hope to be able to use the hearts on other accounts, and also sell them unused to others.

As it is now all I want from any trades I do cross shards is the baskets, got a couple ideas for them

You're seriously crying about this? You base your play style off of cross sharding these gifts? You don't have anything better to do with your time than that, and then crying about it on stratics?

You seriously need to get a hobby.

Maybe look at in in context? If I gave my heart to my sweetheart on Valentine's day I'd be pretty darn annoyed if he turned round and sold it/gave it away to someone else.

Does this mean I can only use the cards/hearts with the char who got them? Or the account they came from?

Basically I want to use them all on the one character (who didn't qualify for a gift due to being too young), he's a bit of a Casanova and is the only one I have who'd partake in Valentines festivities.

Seems the cards still work, I'll have some fun with those. And I could always use a collection of throbbing hearts in my laboratory..

the throbbing hearts are not ACCOUNT based(locked)

they are CHARACTER based(locked)

different toons from same account cannot use a heart they didnt originally get

this sucks..

had to go back and pull all my hearts out of my box o treasures and put em individually in each chars bank

I have a xtra char im using as a zombie that got a heart but is unlikely to actually use it before I recycle him again, guess that heart stays as deco. hmm..

kinda wish the hearts had atleast worked like soulstones(and frags)

Account and not character bound would make more sense. Not that I like account bound, either. But, I have characters I've been waiting to delete and only kept them in anticipation of the gifts. What possible use do I have for their hearts? Good idea, poor implementation. There's going to be an increase in lab deco. Maybe we'll get another turn in and these will be included.

I dont know about you. But I pay for all game content, it's included in my monthly fee. I do agree that everyone should be happy to get something extra, but it wasnt free by any means.

The cupid is an interesting idea, it's just silly to be character bound.

Seriously, Holiday cross-shard trading has slowly been dying these past 5 years. The real golden years were 1999-2003, where they had large collectable sets and everyone was trading. It was rather fun.

But the problem is, if you'll look at the Christmas Presents in past several years, they've stepped up the quanitity and really dropped the quality (in terms of collection variety). This year's gift set is a perfect example: there was nothing varied, no collectibles. You could use your account stable to get one of each, there was really no reason to get more. There was no prize "rare" version of the prizes, like before. In short, they've slowly morphed it into a complete set is attainable by one account.

I get the feeling that the whole holiday trading thing was kind of like the stealable items in crates -- the devs didn't plan on it, but it was a serendipity that turned into an attractive bonus to players. But I think they've long been aiming to phase it out.

BTW Mountaindew, where ya been? Havent seen you at the guild functions in a bit...

Caspian, I think you missed the crazy over the "neon" boxes this past Christmas. People were trading like mad to get sets of those. Believe me, xsharding is still alive and well. I'm not xsharding this time and kind of relieved. My hands still hurt from Christmas

There was a rare ice patch, Price Caspian. I did a lot of cross sharding and collecting and only received one rare patch and one neon box over four accounts.

All that are flaming this have to understand... This x-trading has been a tradition for us old UO vets since the game came out. Something we look forward to every UO Holiday. Something we "Pay" for. Oh and Happy Valentine's Day all...

This particularly giveaway might just by an anomoly as the hearts, by their nature are to give someone a unique gift ( well, up to the limit of name uniqueness ... if someone is bound and determined to be a two-timer, they will find a way )

But having them character-bound makes them feel like a very, very special thing to receive.

Agreed completely. At 'the holiday season' I saw someone spamming at the bank that they were 'selling their gifts'... I explained to him that they were given to everyone so I doubt anyone would be interested in buying something they were already given as a gift... asked him how he would feel if he made a gift for someone to show his appreciation of that person and the recipient of that gift threw it away for some slight monetary gain. He left.

Gifts are not (and never were) given with the intent of the recipient buying/selling/trading them... That applies outside of and inside of the context of the game. It's a gift from the dev team to you.
I would be glad if they continued to use this model for future gifts.
