Looks a lot like an exploit fix. After it is done, they will say that something was fixed but won't give details.
Or does it set up something for test center and Publish 58?

I am presently logged on.
We get a message every 15 minutes telling us all shards are going down at 5pm for a maintenance. I was wondering what this is all about. We used to get regular updates on this sort of thing. Now we have been getting either nothing at all, or as the Herald reads today about the patch we got; "Client publish Live" which is less than informative.
I just got that message too..who is Drasaw I wonder?

Nah if it was something fun and good they would announce it. Like "The shards are going down in 30 minutes for fun new content!!!" (lol) so that people wouldn't get *as* aggrivated.

I hope to god its not these pot changes.
it's quite possibly the worst thing they could ever do to pvp. dont fix it if it aint broken. these pot changes will make me quit uo for good.
it will stop me from playing solo against mass gank. how will i heal? it will make chiv dexxers the new power template, abusing faction items. it's quite simply the worst idea ive ever heard of.

Relax folks. Valentine's Day is Saturday. They don't like to publish on Friday. Note the publish notes say it's an update to Pub 57, which we already have, since 58 is still in the works. They are just trying to get us Valentines content on time.
Isn't that what the daily shard maintence time is for? not 5pm in the god forsaken afternoon!

God forbid you have to find something else to do for an hour and a half... or if you can't play later... that you have to miss a day. The sky is indeed falling.
I'm not saying I can't find anything else to do, I'm saying it's ridiculous to take the shards down at a busy time to hand out useless gifts. Just my opinion.
i think they should give them all to you and let us steal them back. lol

I'm saying that it is simply not that big of a deal.
I'm sure they have reasons for doing it now... I may or may not agree with them, but overall it doesn't effect much.
A few reasons I can think of:
There might be bugs/maintenance issues that will need to be dealt with and they don't want to leave it too close to Saturday (Valentine's Day).
This is the earliest they could do it, and they want to give people ample time to get gifts ready for other people.
They wanted to do the patch while they were still at work... so tonight isn't the best option...
*shrug* any of those may or may not be right... but it seems fairly obvious that if there WAS NOT a decent reason for doing the publish now... they probably wouldn't have.
In other news: "rediculous" is only a word on the internet. I'm not really that picky with grammar/spelling that often... but I see that word misspelled so often that it bugs me.

All very valid points. I wouldn't be saying anything here if any of those were the reason but since the only info we got is about gifts then I must believe that info. And that is a terrible reason to take the shards down. They have never been shy before about telling us when they were fixing a dupe or exploit or whatever.
But hey, I hope I am wrong. I hope it is to fix something!
