I have been reading the 3 page thread got half way through it didnt see this asked so ill ask, if it was asked sorry.

Almost everyday there are books tossed around the ground for illegal websites. I know they can track who writes the books. I would think this would be something done with a script and a trial account. Could be wrong.

If its not then they need to start banning people for them. I mean people got 72 hour suspensions for having websites not even close to what these people do.

What do you think about not allowing trial accounts ability to write in books? Ive played this game almost since the beginning and dont think I have ever wrote stuff down in a book. Ive worked scribe many times. Always made scrolls never books.

Curious as to what the rest of you think. Especially devs.

No need to use a script to fill the books out if that is what you mean about scripts and trial accounts. All you need is a note pad or whatever then type what you want to go in the books. set up a macro paste copy what is on the note pad then paste it in the books. I do agree with ya tho reason the logic way to look at it. Someone who is trying out uo for the first time is not going to waste the 2 weeks filling out books with web addys. A new comer who never played is going to try out things in the game as much as they can.

It did get brought up in the thread. I think the best solution for those trial accounts is to prevent them from dropping either runes or books on the ground, simply giving them a message on screen saying they need to either trade or trash those items to get rid of them as a trial account player.

Then if someone wants to take notes in books, they can, but they can't spam them all over the floor.

I like the trade or trash option. It'd be a good blanket policy for newbies, actually, so they don't lose stuff or get swindled. UO is one of the few games that allow you to put stuff on the ground and I've seen young players get conned using that feature.

I still have newbie-blessed books from my very first days, they're among my most treasured keepsakes. I kept an in-character journal for each of my characters of my first impressions of the world. I thought it was brilliant that you could do such a thing as write in a book in a game. Of course I thought everything about UO was brilliant back then. :D
